Description
The Werwolf, one of the most wellknown beasts from myth, folklore and modern media. It was only a matter of time before i felt for drawing one. I wanted to create a even more animalstic version that only walks on four legs, its basically a uber-wolf. I added the bony armour and spine because why not. The myth of werewolvs can be traced back to ancient greek, called Lycanthropes after King Lycaon who was transformed into a wolf to better suit its bloodthirst by Zeus.

There are many ways a person could be a werwolf, all from wearing wolfskin, drinking from a wolf skull, being cursed etc. However, being bitten by one and the turned into a werwolf is made up by Hollywood. The versions from folklore would rip and tear its victim apart, leaving only a mutilated corpse. Werevolves were also connected to the Devil. The fear and superstition of the real wolf was more than certainly the root to the myth.
From the late medievil to early modern time, 30.000 people were accused for being a werewolf. Many were tormented into confession and burned at the stake. Similar as the witch hunts.
