Description

EUREKA. No more magnetic hooves... not in my universe. Also, holding weapons in the teeth = RIP teeth...

This simple design will hopefully make my future artworks and comics more enjoyable to the audience.

I know some people are picky about details, so here is a little solution that may solve many problems.

I'm happy with how simple this solution is: no special gloves, straps or attachments, just horseshoes.

Here is an artwork where this system is present:

More coming soon c;

It's very nice to hear this, especially that you found our culture interesting! I wish I could go back to my home country; I'm currently in the US, studying, but I miss Poland very often!

You know, that is perhaps the simplest and most sensible explanation I've seen for that yet.

Nie chciałbym zmieniać design'u narzędzi, bo moją publiką nie są kuca, a ludzie. Zatem chcę, aby miecze wyglądały jak miecze, autentyczne, dla lepszego odbioru większej liczby publiki.

W każdym innym razie, narzędzia dostosowane do kopyt to najbardziej logiczne rozwiązanie, przyznaję!

Daj znać, gdy skończysz concept, jestem ciekaw co wymyśliłeś! :3

Well, if you delve this deep into this concept there will always be some nonsense. I mean, let's be real, we're talking about horses using swords, it's stupid anyway xD
Although this design is not mechanically perfect, it will make more sense in my fantasy world where the only race in Earth Ponez, and magic isn't common.
I appreciate your thoughts very much! Good points to think about.

I always just assumed it was magic.

Horn, Hair, Feathers, Hooves, are all made of Keratin

given the show shows earth ponies using their Hooves and Hair,
Pegasi using their hooves, and feathers, and Unicorns using their Horns and Hooves
seems Keratin acts as a natural Magic Foci, allowing Unicorn horns to cast and project magic
and hair, hooves, and feathers, to cast magic through physical contact
especially touch based telekinesis, allowing prehensile hair, and to pick up and use tools.

catch-slot horse shoes could be useful in ensuring a hold on something you don't want to drop.
though with such a small piece of metal, I'd be worried about the metal pin shearing off
when you use a lot of force on something, such as swinging a hammer, and hitting a solid object.

Woah owo'
That's some next-level magic lore right there! Hah
Interesting...

Your explanation is nice because magic fills in a lot of gaps! However (and I should have noted this in the description), in my universe, magic would be very scarce. Characters would rely on physical contact and technology. This means that I have a certain limitation and have to work around it.

And yes, the pins can wear off, bend or break, but I'm assuming they're made of durable fantasy metal, like mithril, or something c;

Thanks for the insights! Very thoughtful!

My pleasure, as always. How do you manage to make those pieces of medieval equipment?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helmie-Art In reply to DarthWill3 [2020-03-02 02:20:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, I look at original references and 'translate' the equipment to equines. However, my goal is to keep the items as close to the original as possible

Never thought about this option. It's an interesting concept.

Do you have any idea for holding shields, already?

Helmie-Art In reply to zariots [2020-02-29 06:03:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
I think shields would be similar to IRL ones - you'd attach them with a strap to the arm of a horse. I'll test that in future sketches ;3

Kitsune297 [2020-02-28 01:40:33 +0000 UTC]

definitely a very cool idea, though I imagine it’d be pretty awkward with a two handed(hooved?) weapon. Wouldn’t want to trip over and face plant

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helmie-Art In reply to Kitsune297 [2020-02-29 06:01:55 +0000 UTC]

I believe that it's possible to quickly catch or detach from the weapon to prevent such misfortune ^^'
Also, I still have to demonstrate how horses would fight in my universe. That will throw some light
