Hi Yall, This started out as just a sketch or a boring zombie yesterday and I decided to add some color and tighten it up a bit further. I decided that I need to make it more exciting so I decided to fry this guy with some good ol off screen lightning. Again just trying new stuff out. I really had no intention of going crazy with certain things... his hands are kinda lame and his tattered clothing is not very exciting at all. I changed my RGB color preset from sRGB to adobeRGB and tested it out. So what I was really going for is to test out how the change affected color. I got a tip from a great artist that did a paint over on my concept creature and made it pop like crazy ! his name is Markus Lovadina and this is his cghub profile [link]Peace

However... the lighting bolt behaves very weird after it trespasses the zombie...
it looks like veins when it should look like... well... a lightning...

*low whistle* Wow, this is fantastic! I know I keep going on and on about how you colour a piece really makes it come alive (ahem, undead) but I cannot emphasize enough just how well you pull it off. The soft greens and blues create a foggy, sickly atmosphere and there's never TOO MUCH detail that the image is overpowering. I think it's a great study on expression even if you think some of the details aren't correct, like his clothing or the hands, the feeling is still there and the stark lightning really brings the piece to life (undeadness).

Thanks Sparkly ! I am trying to learn how to use details effectively.. for example the hard edge soft edge principles and what is my focus. detail up the areas that is in focus and let the rest be up to interpretation. something I am working up to. I tend to get caught up in details to much thinking that everything has to be perfect, but that is not always the case in great art.
