Personality:
Positive:
- Observant - He often catches things most people miss, making him very good at improvising when there's trouble and the such
- Acts Quickly - While not literally the fastest, he is always amongst the first to react to a situation, be it a dire one or otherwise
- Hard Working - He doesn't like to slack off on the job and resents it went he sees others doing so

- Ambitious - He is determined to be the best there is, striving to become a captain in the future and to take back Earth
- Time efficient - He knows how to put every minute to good use
Negative:
- Quick to anger - While he won't often outwardly express his frustration, he does have a short temper which he keeps a tight hold on
- Risk taker - If he believes taking certain actions will bring them closer to their goal, he'll take them even if it puts his team in danger
- Arrogant - He's managed to survive this far on his own so he doesn't believe he has to rely on others
- Aloof - Being taught from a young age to keep his emotions in check, he often disregards the ones of those around him (both intentionally and not)
- Reserved - He won't be very friendly with strangers and maintains a distant relationships with those he has to interact with on a day to day basis
- Disrespectful - He often won't see others as his equal until they earn his respect, resulting in conflict with authority and his peers
- Doesn't talk about his problems - He isn't very open with his emotions, preferring to let it out while training or on the battlefield. However, this does take a toll on his mental health, sometimes causing violent outbursts to come out of seemingly nowhere.
Likes:
- Training (as well as fighting in general)
- He has a fondness for turtles
- Swimming (also includes surfing and other water related activities)
- He enjoys stargazing
- Exploring was one of his favorite hobbies when he was younger
Dislikes:
- People who can't separate their emotions from the missions
- Apples and grapefruits
- When people order him to do things he doesn't agree with
- He doesn't like junk food much
- Failing is something he absolutely hates and refuses to do
Strengths: He is particularly skilled in fighting, easily being able to hold his own in one. While not the fastest, he does pack a hell of a punch do to all the experience he had since he was younger. In addition to this, he's also very smart, being able to think himself out of a situation if fists don't do the trick. His ability to separate mind and emotion also allows him to make tough decisions.
Weaknesses: Diego isn't exactly the nicest person around. While appreciating those who saved him, he still doesn't fully trust them yet. As a result of this, he has trouble taking orders from them and other humans. This causes him to have problems with authority, getting into the occasional argument. This is even worse with peers, his attitude getting him into many fights. He also bottles up his emotions, refusing to let them interfere with his goals. Without a friend to share his problems with, he lets his anger and sadness fester until they explode.
Background:
Martin wasn't a bad man, but he wasn't exactly a good one either. He was ambitious and incredibly competitive, always striving to be the best in everything he took part of. At the top of his class, he graduated and immediately accepted a place in a quickly growing company. That is where he met Diana, a magnificent woman who could match him on every level. They quickly took interest in each other, dating and eventually marrying. It wasn't long after that they were offered positions in the United States. Dreaming of the many opportunities it offered, they agreed and moved there. Growing wealthy and in good health, they were happy.
It was only natural for that to change once Diana died.
It wasn't anyones fault really. Diana was weak from sickness at the time, that mixed with the complications of childbirth were just too much for her. Struck with a broken heart and a child who reminded him of all that he had lost, Martin grew into a bitter man. As a result, Diego not only was raised without the love of a mother, but without the love of a father as well.
Diego rarely saw his father, instead growing under the care of hired tutors and nannies. Like his parents, he excelled at a young age and seemed to hold a promising future ahead of him. It was while he was with one of his teachers, Maria, when the invasion began. His father was away on a business trip at the time, leaving only Maria and Diego to watch as the news reported on world wide attacks from the alien threat. Seeing no sign of Martin coming back soon, Maria took Diego and fled to the safe zones provided by the government.
It didn't take long for humanity to crumble beneath the Monosoros, their sheer strength and numbers easily overtaking them. That doesn't mean everyone gave up though. Many resistance groups were formed, amongst one of them was where Diego and Maria found themselves. Despite the hardships and monstrosities everyone had faced, their people still remained strong, holding onto the belief that they would be free one day. There was where Diego learned how to fight and most importantly, survive.
It was only supposed to be a supply run, raiding one of the nearby abandoned strongholds. It was something Diego had done many times before, he was practically an expert at it by now. While it was normally reserved for the older members of their group, at the age of fourteen Diego was considered skilled enough to land himself the job. Everything had gone according to plan, they managed to gain more than the needed amount of supplies. Eager to get back to camp, they all set off. Nobody knew they were going to be followed.
It was a complete surprise when the first shot rang through the air. At one moment, the man eating beside Diego was grinning, talking about how excited he was to get a good haul, the next he was on the floor, blood spilling from the wound in his chest. Everyone tried their best to unite and defend themselves but caught by surprise in the dying light, they stood no chance. Diego managed to escape, hiding in one of the nearby buildings and terrified for his life. He watched as the Monosoros rounded up the survivors, herding them around like they were animals. He wanted to help them, to kill the aliens who had caused so much misfortune, but the sight of Maria being dragged out made his blood run cold.
Too many thoughts were rushing through his head, too many scenarios, too many situations going wrong. He wanted to scream at her to stop fighting, to just go with them but before he could, the alien reached for its gun. It all happened too fast, Maria being knocked unconscious from the blow to the head. He stared in horror as they flung her limp body into the ship and flew off, leaving his destroyed home in a deafening silence. He didn't know what to do, so he did the only thing he did best. He survived.
He spent a little over a year in hiding. He scavenged for food and did everything possible in order to make it another day. Eventually, he was captured and thrown into another ship. There not only was he was forced to fight for the entertainment of his captors, but also had to live amongst many other kidnapped humans and aliens. Overcrowded and with barely enough food to live, he suffered with the others before salvation arrived.
While being transported on a cargo ship for reasons unknown to him, the Monosoros were attacked and they were rescued. Strange beings he had never seen before weren't what he was expecting at all. He was suspicious of them, not having much good experience with aliens, but still felt gratitude towards them. Joining the Garrison was his best bet at taking back Earth so he did, vowing to someday find Maria and free Earth.
