「 headstrong · impulsive · foul-mouthed · distrustful · good-humored · independent 」Noir is a stubborn and tactless youth—at first glance may seem unbefitting to be a partner, but once someone earns her respect and trust she would show unyielding love and loyalty that can only be gained through time. Underneath that brash and reckless front is a kind, responsible, and surprisingly mature young lady as she often looks after younger cyborgs, and even her happy-go-lucky and somewhat childish handler. She is motherly and doting in a sense where she likes cooking and feeding others till they get full or make sure the people she's fond of are properly treated even when they only have the littlest of injuries. She may not acknowledge or realize it but she is intuitive and easily spots inconsistencies in people's testimonies, making her a kid that's hard to lie to—a result of her fondness with old detective films. Despite seeming like a stick in the mud most of the time, she knows how to have fun and ride on someone else's sense of humor; although her personal favorite type of humor when it came to those closest to her is slapstick so beware of that heavy hand of hers.

「 white or black? 」It was Parent's Day—thought to be a normal and fun day became a tragedy for those who still remember it—when a terrorist organization held hostage an entire school funded by the French government. One Angelique Noir held onto her parents tightly every time a loud gunshot sounded every passing hour. In the tiny crevices of her parents' firm embrace could she see some of her classmates sprawled onto the ground, "sleeping". Everyone thought the horror was over when the terrorists fled the classroom until a deafening explosion rocked the campus; the next thing Angelique knew she was already at the hospital. Both her right arm and leg, and everyone she knew and cared about who was with her in that class . . . are gone.

The 9-year-old went through numerous therapies and questioning after the incident, refusing to really connect with any insensitive adult who deemed her a brat—save for one. "Just call me Noir just like how everyone calls papa that," she told the kind man who unceasingly tried to get to know her, not as a victim or a patient, but a person who needed a friend. Even when the investigations and hunt for the terrorists didn't bear much fruit, he still promised her justice for her lost loved ones—but it was a promise she no longer remembers after becoming a cyborg under Fratellus.
