I never knew there was such a thing as a Sumatran tiger. I thought this tiger was beautiful, so I looked up information on the species.
Thank you. While doing the research, I was humbled at the loss of three other tiger subspecies. It's so sad.
Seeing this animal, which is just SO beautiful, kind of made my heart break... in a good way.

I've seen quite a lot of different tiger species, and they can be very different. I think the most well known one, the Siberian, is my favorite, but the Sumatrans are very beautiful in an other way. They're MUCH smaller, darker, and a bit mysterious. There are also large differences between individual tigers. This is the male in Rotterdam, Hermes. The females are much more slender and... female.
