But she is so egoistic practically monopolized all core memories, and when she could not accept that other emotions could also be "core"; almost condemned Riley to a life separated from her family.
I don't like Joy, at least she regrets of his actions in the end...

I don't plan to see that movie, so could you just tell me, what is that ball? Based on commercial I assume they are memory balls like the ones in Never Ending Story 2, but why is that one special?

I've seen the movie, and they're called "core memories",which means that those are the most important memories in her life what makes a part of her personality.

I don't think it could break, but if you lose it or doesn't work anymore, then it loses the connection of a part of her personality. (And that means that she won't have that part of her. For example "friendship", she won't have that anymore.)

Well if you can split an atom in that universe, then you can certainly break a cell, or part of one

They're kind of... metaphysical.
Pixar has officially stated that the emotions are purely made of energy.

If they are forms of mental thoughts, then they can be killed depending on the health of the brain, if they are physical, they can be killed with other means.Β

They're not physical. I'd imagine that brain damage can cause issues (memory loss can happen due to concussions).
However, I'm pretty sure something like a lobotomy would definitely devastate the mind realm.

I wouldn't say 'magic', but rather I'd say they're... abstract beings of thought.

You know how if you visualize hard enough, you can create intricate worlds with no limits in your brain?
