Description
Reportedly a relic brought back from India, this mummified hand of an unidentified monkey, or small ape is said to have the power to grant three wishes to whoever posesses it. It circulated around England for several years at the turn of the 20th century, causing untold sufering to those who tried to use it, including one recorded suicide before finding its way to a small shop of curiosities in Worcester, where it was purchased by Prof. Edmond Harkness of the University for the collection. Lab tests have confirmed its unusual powers. But since these "wishes" almost invariably take a grisly turn for the user, unauthorized access outside of laboratory conditions is strictly forbidden, and the hand is kept in the Restricted Area of the library under lock and key.
