The Forest Giant By @artendym
I’m designing a few monsters for my College project, based on a tree, woman and giants.
The idea was to create a Greek, giant 100ft forest guardian that hates and eats humans but loves and cares for other animals in the forest, inspired by mother nature if she hated humans. at first i was trying to incorporate more fly trap armour that would accentuate her cannilblistic like behaver although i quickly realised that it would be better for her design to be based on more trees to make her more natural, stern and complements her size.
Witch is why i gave her tree trunk hair, roots on her face with trees on her shoulders and head to accentuate the fact that she is part tree, part giant. along with giving her tree gloves and shoes with leafs as cuffs to empathise the massive size most trees would have, the naturalistic features that makes her fit in more with the forest environment and trick her tiny foes into thinking her limbs are just trees.
i also added a run down, Greek dress to her design. one reason was because she lives in the wild who would constantly get hunted every day and she wouldn’t be able to find anything that would fit her, that’s why the dress would accentuate the survivor aspect of character. the other reason was to make her fit in with the Greek mythology theme, although i wish i could emphasise that more because right now she doesn’t seam Greek enough.
over all i really like the final results of this design. Making her half tree, half giant not only accentuates how natural she is, it also gives her that massive, strong and fearsome look that makes her a threatening god while having the mother nature look for her character.
check out some concept art i made for the character in this link . i hope you enjoy the character and who know, i could use her in my medieval annabell stories. hint hint.
