I agree with you. I spent most of my time in Venice wondering if I had wandered into someone's dream. There are stories in sci fi and fantasy of cities in the sky, and woven through history are tales of a land that sunk below the waves.
It never quite seemed real to me that I walked through streets built upon the ocean, and that the idea of Atlantis, falling into the sea, is captured in Venice.

Love the way you captured the view down the canal. It's such a gorgeous city, it's one of my dream vacations if I ever had the chance. The detail here is delightful, especially the faces on the bridge and the muted colors.

Oh man, did you go inside the Doge's Palace? The painted ballroom is absolutely and completely awe-striking! It's amazing how you caught the lighton the water and the staining on the sides of the palace.

being an extreme estimator of Venice and since I go to "photographic pilgrimage" regularly, I can't say this picture is really good. I think the colors are too "digital" and saturated, while I know perfectly well that Venice with that kind of weather has very soft and pastel colors that I think should always be preserved.
The title itself makes me think too..... since that bridge is called "Ponte dei sospiri". It is the only covered bridge in Venice: the building at right were the Prisons. Thus once the criminal was judged and convicted at left, he was escorted over that bridge to his destination and he gave "the last sigh" on the bridge.

This is beautiful...I had the pleasure of seeing Venice last spring and got to see the Bridge of Sighs on a gondola tour (my pics didn't turn out this nice, it was an old camera...)
I like the shot just as it is...one thing I noticed about Venice....You can look at the same scene several times and always see something somehting new. You get the sense with that "blank space" that you're peeking around the corner into a bustling area. The levels of perspective give it so much dimension.

I love how they're so many levels to this photo: the sculpture on the bridge, the bridge and buildings in the background, the boats, etc. It's very interesting. You don't notice it all at first glance. Very beautiful.
