Niiice! You really captured the look, and feel of that game here, only a bit cartoonier, and I like the spirally details on the ground/rock patterns. The colors are pretty good, and I like the sunshine beam effects in the water. I also like Mario's comical expression/reaction here, and the blurry movement lines help capture that underwater feel nicely.
Nice job on "Big Bertha" to. (Yes, that's the big fish's official name, they also used it for a character in the 1993 SMB movie to.)
