Sniper POV
It was time for another battle against the blue team (classic attack and defense style). I was getting myself ready for it in my favorite way- a good old nap. I was just about to drift off when she tapped me on the soldier. Ah (f/n). She has gorgeous hair, beautiful eyes and a marvelous personality. Just thinking about her makes me go weak at the knees- not ideal for battles with life or death situations. Of course with my luck though, she just had to be in the sniper class, so she worked right alongside me.
As I was saying, she tapped me on the shoulder and I glanced up. “I just thought you should know, the battle’s gonna start in five minutes” (f/n) said. “Oh uh, thanks for the heads up.” “No problem…” It was a very awkward conversation (not that it wasn’t ever not awkward between us). Then she walked away, and as always went to that bloody medic.
It always seemed like the two of them were together, and to be honest, I was a little pissed off by it. She was my partner, so shouldn’t I be the one she talks to? Well apparently not. Now that I think of it, she talks to everyone else more than me. She even talks to the demoman more, and he’s a bloody Cyclops for goodness sake! It’s going to be hard taking my mind of her today…
Reader POV
There he was, all stretched out on the bench with his hat on his face. He looked adorable (I would never tell him that though). I figured it would be nice to warn him about how the battle was going to start soon, and I did. I couldn’t say much to him without my face going red though, (like usual) so I walked over to the medic.
Medic, the man I could say just about anything to. He was pretty much like the father I never had. “I saw you were talking to your little crush…” said the medic. “Oh shut up!” I retorted, playfully punching him in the arm. “In all seriousness though, how is it between you two?” I sighed. “Pretty much the same- if not worse. I still can’t speak or even look at him without getting butterflies in my stomach, and a face with a similar color to a tomato.” “Well try to concentrate out there today, and be careful.” “It’ll be hard with him there, but I’ll try.” The medic then proceeded to give me a hug, a ritual we did almost every time before battle.
Sniper POV
Now he was hugging her?!? I swear that bloody medic is gonna get it one of these days. Who does he think he is her boyfriend? Then it hit me. (f/n) could very well have a boyfriend back where she comes from. No, no she couldn't have a boyfriend... Could she?
Battle time Sniper POV
"Positions maggots! MOVE!" Yelled the soldier. (f/n) and I proceeded to rush up the water tower and take aim. My arms couldn't aim very well at all today. Probably because this area was a really cramped space and (f/n) was pretty close to me. She looked so cute with that concentrated look on her face. Snap out of it, concentrate! Heavy. Headshot. Medic. Headshot. Engineer head- "You're doing pretty well today" (f/n) said. I missed the engineer... "Thanks..." I muttered. Silence. Boom. (f/n) took out the engineer.
"So uh... Are you doing alright?" I asked. "Yeah, you?" "I could be worse." I replied. "True." Soldier. Headshot. "You're on fire today!" (f/n) exclaimed. My ears went red. "Thanks (f/n)..." Pyro. Headshot. "Nice shot." I told (f/n).(f/n)'s face went red. "Are you alright?" I asked with concern. "Your face is all red, you aren't getting sick are you?" I put my hand on her forehead. Her face turned a darker shade of red. "N-no I'm fine." She stuttered. "Maybe you need to go see the medic..." "No really, I'm fine."
"So are you and the medic... You know... Together?" I asked. "No!" (f/n) said, laughing. "You thought, me and the medic were together?" "Well you two do talk a lot..." "No he's more like a father to me. I already have my eye on someone anyway." My ears perked up. She likes someone?
"So uh, who's the lucky bloke?" I asked. "I'm not going to just tell you that!" (f/n) exclaimed. "Why not? It's not like I could very well tell them unless they were on our te- wait. It's someone on the red team?" (f/n) blushed. "Well um... Yeah, it is..." She bashfully said.
"Alright, well I know it's not the medic. I'd have to guess scout, he's a strapping young lad." "Ha no, he's like a brother to me." She confessed. "Hmm... The spy? Women always seem to go for the bloody French accent..." "No, the spy is just a good friend, nothing more. Besides, I don't even know what he looks like!" It was then that I realized I could very well figure out who (f/n) liked if things kept going like this. "Is it the engineer? He's a smart bugger." (f/n) began to laugh. "I know this sounds weird, but I almost view him as my mother." I laughed. “I can sort of see that. The soldier? He’s a good leader I guess…” “No the soldier’s too… strict. I could never see him with a girlfriend. It’s kind of hard to imagine him like that, snuggled up to a woman, being GENTLE for once in his life.” “Yeah it is. I can’t rightly picture him like that myself. Is it the heavy? He uh… likes sandwiches?” “For starters, I think it’s pronounced sandvich, second of all the heavy is sweet (that’s his good trait about him to me), and finally I don’t like him in that way.” (f/n) said. “Alright, well then that leaves the pyro and the demoman.” I mused. “Both seem a bit unlikely to me but, you don’t like the pyro do you?” “No, he’s a bit too mysterious for me.” This left me with one possibility and it shocked me horribly. “You like the bloody Cyclops?!?” I exclaimed. “No not the “Cyclops” as you like to put it.” She answered.
I was terribly confused. I even began counting all of the classes off on my fingers, (f/n) watching me with an amused expression on her face. “Are you pulling my leg? I’ve named everyone on the team.” I said. “No, you’ve left one very important man out. To be honest I’m surprised you can’t figure out who you’re missing.” Then it hit me. It hit me like eighteen-wheeler truck, rumbling down the highway. My heart started racing, my palms were sweating and my whole body shook. She liked me. I couldn’t believe it.
Reader POV
I couldn’t believe what I was doing. I was practically telling him that I had a massive crush on him! I think he had begun to register that I liked him and I was so nervous. If he didn’t feel the same, I think I’d die of embarrassment. Besides, it’d be so awkward working with him and living at the base with him.
I was staring intently at him, holding my breath, when I saw something out of the ordinary. It seemed almost like the air behind the sniper had shifted. Wait a minute… “SPY!” I yelled in fear. I couldn’t lose the sniper- I just couldn’t. I loved him. Wait a minute. I loved him? I thought I simply liked him- I guess not. I grabbed my kukri and swung it around looking for the spy, and then his cloaking ran out. He was perfectly visible. Before he had a chance to kill anyone, I stabbed him; right through his heart. He fell to the ground, dead as a doornail.
The sniper and I looked at each other in silence. Then he took off his hat and bowed a bit. “You… saved me. Thank you.” He whispered.
Sniper POV
She saved me. God she’s so amazing, I love her so- wait. I love her? I thought I had a crush, I ‘spose not. I had to make sure though. I HAD to make sure she felt the same. I mustered all the courage I had and asked her, “So… you like me?” “Yes, very much so. In fact, I think I… love you.” (f/n) said. Her face was bright red. I was on cloud nine. I had never felt so happy. Now was my chance. “I love you too (f/n).” Her smile was heavenly and contagious as well. I couldn’t help but smile brightly too. I was so happy; I ran over to her, threw my arms around her waist and kissed her. She put her arms around my neck, kissed back, and I swear I saw fireworks going off around us.
A few seconds into the kiss the announcer uttered the words “victory”, and it made my day all the better. Of course the bloody need to breath exists, so we had to pull apart. We gazed into each other’s eyes and love was written on her face. Hand in hand, we walked to the opening for the ladder of the water tower, only letting go to climb down. We walked all the way back to the base, where the team was already celebrating the victory with games and drinks (the demoman was already drunk). I already had my reward though, and she was standing right beside me.
Extended addition
“Since I’m apparently (f/n)’s father, when exactly can I expect some grandkids?”
