Description Continued from: Planet M12748 Pt1

"That's got to be it! exclaimed Roz. With several scanning systems at her cybernetic fingertips, Casey trusted her judgment.

"Yeah... but look at those storms!" exclaimed Casey. "I've landed in bad weather before, but not in high wind and lightning!" "Plus, the ground might be saturated, and I don't want to land in a swamp!"

"Sensors indicate the rain is coming down in buckets!" laughed Roz and she got serious. "As much as four inches an hour buckets full!"

"Damm!" muttered Casey. "Looks like an all nighter too!" "Why don't we establish a low stationary orbit." "Perhaps the rain will subside by morning, at least enough that Jool and I can get on the ground!"

"QX sweetie!" answered Roz and asked for control so she could set an orbit.

Casey let her, knowing she'd be keeping a close eye on everything. Jool also excused herself, probably to prepare an evening meal. Her hand brushed his shoulder as she passed.

Happy crew, happy plane! he thought as he smiled to himself. "Happy wife, happy life!"

Feeling like he'd left something out of his journal, he went back and retrieved it from its storage place, and while sitting in the pilot's seat, continued to type.

August 27th, 2031, addition: The planet was labeled M12748 and does not have an official name. Command must have received enough data to assume it was a class M planet. It does have a correct oxygen/nitrogen percentage almost no Carbon monoxide. The atmosphere is very habitable, with gravity of 1.11. Scans show probable life, human life unknown, but likely primitive.

We arrived and began a stitching pattern, but large storm masses across most of the planets temperate zone at night hampered visibility and fouled the scans. Winds are too strong for a drone flight at this time.

However, Roz received a strong metallic hit, and we are hopeful. It is the only planet out of four probable planets that we have found sensor readings indicating a space vessel is on the surface.

There are no radio signals. I hope for the best.

Two hands gently started rubbing his shoulders. Jool leaned over and kissed his neck and cheek. Casey leaned his head back into the seat's head rest and they nuzzled a moment.

"Ready for some supper?" she asked. "I have bag Tomato soup with basil and toasted cheese sandwiches." She made a face, indicating her distaste of concentrated food bags.

Sounds great!" he stated. While not an incredible cook, his wife was very, very good at what she knew! Now he could smell it, and his stomach growled in agreement.

Folding up his journal, he got up from the pilot's seat and headed to the galley, pausing just a moment to place his journal back in storage.

Dinner, supper, or evening meal was delicious! Jool added some fine diced canned tomatoes and extra seasonings to improve the taste! There was a small salad to go with the soup and sandwich. The bread was Jool's excellent baking skills. Plenty of water to drink... life is good!

Casey asked between bites. "What's the weather like on the sunshiny side of the planet,
Roz?" A screen flickered across from the couple, and a hologram of Roz appeared like a weather reporter over a terrain map of the planet!

Roz started with, "Temperate to jungle like across the equator into the northern and southern land zones, and two small ice-cold poles, much like Terra!" "However, this planet is about two thirds the size of Terra and doesn't appear to have an elliptical orbit!"

She went on to give the storm paths and front information, rotating the model of the planet as she did!

"So, seasons are constant." added Jool. "Not a usual phenomenon, but certainly not abnormal."

"The only thing that appears to change is the rain," stated Roz. As she spoke, the planet on the screen rotated to the daylit side. "We're passing into the day side of the planet now, and it's sunny and dry, but a bit humid." "The clouds form at dusk and then the rain comes."

Numbers flashed on the screen indicated the various temperatures and humidity percentages!

The screen revealed the planet's surface in the daylight. Rocky terrain, low mountains, and grasslands with small dense forests and rivers swollen with last night's deluges flowed into small lakes, some of which flowed through to the planet's oceans. Primal and beautiful.

"The perfect place for a colony, provided we don't ruin it with development" quipped Casey. He'd finished eating, washed his dishes and was removing his uniform shirt, exchanging it for something a bit less "regulation".

Jool had done the same, down to a black pair of panties and bra/top.

Roz started the brewers so the couple could have Tea and coffee, and while they sat at the table, Casey started thinking of what they would take to the surface.

In addition to weapons, water and food, there were a couple of other items as well.

"First aid stuff of course, and I supposed we ought to take body bags, just in case." he said.

Jool sighed. "I suppose we should, just in case." "Will I need to do autopsies?"

"Good question." answered Casey. Depending on the remains and their condition, preliminary findings would be good." "You're not technically a medical examiner."

Casey went into the living area and sat down in the oversized recliner and Jool decided to sit on his lap. Casey was a bit surprised when she removed his T shirt before sitting down!

"Yes, but I believe I'd be asked." Jool stated. "Either way, I will plan on it."
