Description

The river in this picture and the last is, I believe, the Barron River. The flooding that I mentioned in the last picture caption is quite apparent here, too. This was not the worst of it, though. The very next year after my visit, Queensland had horrendous flooding, worse than anything that you see here. After looking at a map, I believe the bigger community in the foreground in this picture is Lake Placid, Queensland (not New York!), and that smaller one a bit farther away and to the left a bit is Caravonica, Queensland (not Liguria!) — ah, yes, it is confirmed. I just went and looked at the Wikipedia article about Caravonica, Queensland, and some kind user has transcluded one of my images in the article to illustrate the place.
