Biography: Nicolas Oscar Reithers was just a college student in his freshman year working on his astronomy major when the legendary Gregory's Comet was seen in the sky one night. Known for its otherworldly glow, Gregory's Comet would come to Earth once every one hundred years. Being the budding scientist that he was, Nick wanted to be the first person on campus to study it once the comet was visible in the night sky. There was just one problem: Gregory's Comet was known for getting close to impacting Earth on different occasions, with each visit getting the comet closer to Earth's atmosphere. It seemed that, at long last, Gregory's Comet finally impacted the Earth just outside Corona University. Nick and many other college kids saw what remained of the comet, but were told stay away from it. Nick, being the closest to the comet's radioactive remains, would discover something strange the next morning. He felt energized. He felt more intelligent and creative. He began running faster and lifting heavier things. It felt like he began going through a metamorphosis of sorts. Eventually, the next night, he tried jumping from the college library's roof to the roof of the dorms, as they were close to each other. While he did fail to jump from one end to the other, he soon found himself floating gently down, weightless. Shocked, he tried to see if he could fly. As luck would have it, yes he did! Nick was airborne! Thankfully, no one had seen him do anything. He wanted to keep this his little secret. The next morning, he began thinking about what he had done last night. He had powers now, and Corona City was infamous for its crime rate. People weren't big fans of the police force, either, as they were too lazy and many of them were crooked. Nick knew what he needed to do. Getting his best friend, a tailor and fellow student named Jared French who knew how to keep secrets, to design a costume for him, Nick became Comet Kid, defender of Corona City, Michigan.

Notable rogues include his archenemy, Hugo Albert Leslie (CEO of Nocturne Robotics), S.C.O.P.E. (Sentient Cyborg Organism of Plasma Energy), the C.A.D. (Crime in All Directions) Organization, and the omni-dimensional techno-organic alien warlord known as Ju-Decca.
