That's right, folks! Not only am I a fan of Power Rangers, but I am also a fan of the most popular TV tokusatsu franchise, Kamen Rider. Since every single Kamen Rider is based off a grasshopper or every other animal, I've based my OC off my favorite insect, the praying mantis. Hence, Kamen Rider G.M. aka God Mantis! His costume was based off both Kamen Rider Black RX and SPD Shadow Ranger. So, what do you think?

I just realize sumthing, although he is supposed to be God Mantis, because you used Black Rx as a base.............. it loks too much like a Grasshopper 0_o

I tried making the eyes like those of a mantis, as well as the shape of the helmet...but not making it look exactly like a Mantis' head.

I get that..... but over all the head to neck shape is still a grasshopper, haven't you seen Kamen Rider Chalice [link] or Kamen Rider Gills [link] who are based on the Mantis?

PS. Mantis'do have something that looks like a collar at the base of their neck. It's not big, but you can sort of see it.

Sorry dude, I just love collars like that. Plus, I grew up with Black RX as Masked Rider, and am still not used to Riders with a scarf. So, I'm keeping the collar.

The name's a bit straightforward, but I like the design, especially the Orga-style kilt thing around the hips, very stylish. I think a darker shade of green might make it look better, but otherwise very cool.

The kilt was inspired by some armor medieval knights woe along with the mantis' wings looking like coat tails. As for the color...I don't know, I kinda like it. But I may look into another color one day.

Not every Kamen Rider is based off a grasshopper. Most Kamen Rider suits are insect themed, but they are mostly beetle themed. Then there's Amazon whose design is based off that of a chameleon and other rain forest reptiles. Electro Human Wave Tackle, from Stronger, though wasn't considered an official kamen rider, she was still on the same level as other kamen riders. Her theme was that of a ladybug. Skyrider's theme was that of a locust which added to his flying ability. Super-1 was designed after a hornet. Ryuki's theme was that of a dragon as his name means "Dragon Knight". The other kamen riders had other themes in Kyuki's series. Knight had a bat theme, Gai was a rhino, Femme had a swan theme, and there are many more with completely different themes. Faiz's design, though technology based, was actually themed around a shark. Hibiki's theme was that of, not any kind of animal or insect, but of a japanese demon known as an Oni. In fact, the riders in Hibiki's world were called the Oni riders instead of kamen riders. In kabuto, the only grasshopper themed riders were Kick Hopper and Punch Hopper, while the other riders had themes like beetles, hornet, dragonfly, and even a scorpion. In Den-O, the kamen riders main theme were that of the Bullet Trains and characters from japanese folk tales. Kamen Rider Double's theme is not centered around that of a insect, but that of the letter W to symbolize the dual powered nature of Double. Also in the Double's world, Accel has a theme that centers around motor bikes and his ability to turn into a self driving motorcycle makes him the only rider that doesn't ride a bike. Another non-insect themed rider in Double's world is Skull, pretty obvious what his them is. The next Kamen Rider series to come out will be OOO(ozu). His theme will be centered around a number of different animals, mixed and matched in groups of three. The three main animals are a hawk, a tiger, and a grasshopper. He will obtain new powers and animals as the series progresses. So you see, not all kamen riders are grasshopper themed with Kiva being the only exception. There are many other kamen riders that have themes that are in a class all their own.

Its a good design, with possibilities. But how about a little further information about him. His real name, his powers, weapons, devices he uses, and maybe a little info on who he fights. Ichigo had Great Shocker, ZX had Gadon, Kuuga had the Gorongi, who are GM's enemies?

Dragon Knight won an emmy, Masked Rider by Saban was horrid. Dragon Knight by ADNESS was, well, pretty damn good. Granted the last 10 episodes were a bit underwhelming and disappointing in a way, but the first 30 were kickass. The fight scenes were impressive, which is how it won an emmy. It took itself seriously, more so than most power rangers incarnations. It suprisingly had a lower budget than a single PR episode for the entire series. However, they put it at a late time slot, which resulting in bad ratings despite positive reception. Classic example of screwed by network and executive meddling.

No, I'm sorry. I just HATE Masked Rider. I'm ashamed to admit I saw it as a kid and liked it... BUT it was stupid, poorly written, lame acting and so unoriginal that it made cliches look fresh.
