He couldn’t help it. The look of concentration on the younger boy’s face was so damned cute, and Anders couldn’t stop the bubble of laughter that fought it’s way to the surface and vibrated between their lips. The indignant scowl as Daylen pushed away from him didn’t help him quell his levity at all, though Anders made a valiant effort to cover his mouth to muffle the snickering.

“It’s not funny! And.. and you’re making me the GIRL.”

The older boy managed to stifle his chortling for a moment, till Day blurted out the word ‘girl’, and it started all over again. “I.. I’m sorry, Sunny… you’re just too adorable.”

Normally he didn’t go for the younger boys. Day was barely thirteen, while Anders was well into his seventeenth year and settling into an adult body quite comfortably. His tastes (and a loose sense of moral that at least told him there was a cut-off age for whom to dally with) generally lay with men and women closer to his own age or a bit older. Well. Sometimes more than a ‘bit’. It had been Daylen who had approached HIM, rather, and much to his flattered surprise, had asked if he could teach him how to kiss.

There was a girl, Minerva or Minnora or something like that, that he wanted to impress. Anders had already forgotten, and frankly didn’t care once it got through his head that he was getting a free make-out session with the shaggy-haired and delightfully surly boy. He had the kind of personality that you couldn’t help but want to toy with a little bit, just for the reactions.

“… a-and your beard is scratching my chin. Minnie doesn’t have a beard. This isn’t anything like kissing a girl.”

Anders grinned, his expression reminiscent of the felines he so favored. “How would you know, if you’ve never kissed one?”

“It’s NOT.”

“I can’t do anything about the scruff, kiddo.” Anders rubbed his whisker-covered chin thoughtfully, then reached up to tug the band out of his hair, letting blond hair fall loose around his shoulders. “Does this help?”

Daylen paused, eyeing him in a wary, critical fashion. “…. can I touch it?”

“That was the idea. Try again?”

He hesitated a moment more, then nodded and stepped in close again, reaching up to run his fingers uncertainly over and then weave into Ander’s hair. ‘He has big hands for a kid,’ Anders mused to himself. The boy hadn’t hit his growth spurt yet, but for his sake, he hoped it meant he was going to grow into fitting those hands. “Try relaxing, Sunny. You’re supposed to enjoy this.”

“She is too.”

“Yes…” Anders leaned in, brushing his lips against the younger boy’s with a feather-softness. “… she will.”
