Description Finally got this one done. Yes, another Kirby character,

This is the second Kirby character I was designing for 's Kirby series, Pulsar! He's a bit more complex than the other one I had for it, Dark Sphere Doomer. He is also very unique, but also still relates to a bunch of classic Kirby characters too, making him more interesting. He is also a robot, and a living one too, brought to life by magic.

I've been working on this character for a while. I went through a lot of design revisions on how he would look like, until now I've finally come up with one that I liked and still looked awesome, yet still somewhat simplistic like many other Kirby characters. He's going to appear in kamon-san 's series, as a sort of reoccurring foe, though he is more of being forced to do evil and is not inherently evil himself.

Also, I recently made a reference sheet on him, so you can get a better idea of what he looks like from other angles.
Here's the link to it. -->   hexidextrous.deviantart.com/ar…

I wanted this first appearance of him to look super epic, so I made the BG look more detailed and show the ones whom his origins are from. He has origins with both The Squeak Squad (mainly Daroach and Doc), and the giant wish-granting comet, Nova. Read the description to see how.

-----

Pulsar

Pulsar was originally a small, automaton robot who was built by Doc, the technological genius of the band of mouse thieves known as The Squeak Squad. Doc originally intended him to be a new assistant to the Squeaks, as well as another treasure thief and a bodyguard for them himself. He is very advanced in tech, but however at the time, was just a mindless machine and could not really think for himself. It wasn't long before they started having problems with the fact that Pulsar could not think for himself. Despite Doc's technological expertise, he could not figure out how to give his creation a consciousness of its own, and was nowhere near as advanced as robots such as, say the robots of Halcandra.

So Daroach, the leader of the Squeaks, decided to take matters into his own hands. With help from the others, he activated all of the Dream Fountains and awakened the Great Comet, Nova. Once he did, he wished upon Nova for his colleague's creation, Pulsar, to actually be alive with a mind and personality of it's own. The wish was granted and it made Pulsar more than just a robot, giving him more of a personality and more. Like a Robot with a Soul.

For a time, Pulsar became a good member of the Squeak Squad, and the only purely mechanical one of them too.

Pulsar is sort of like an Artificial Star Warrior. As you can see, his armor is mostly made of shining Bronze, which was collected by the Squeak Squad’s treasure, and was partially done since their leader, Daroach, loves the glittering shine of treasure. Very much to his origins with them, he has a pair of rounded fins on his head that resemble Mouse Ears. He has a pair of metallic wings, allowing him to fly, which fold up when not in use.

After Nova gave Pulsar human qualities, Doc added a few more features to him in honor of Nova’s gift to his creation. Pulsar also has an insignia engraved onto his chest, which depicts a small picture of Nova’s face, as to reference that, and he has cosmetic parts attached to his shoulders which resemble some of Nova’s outside gears.

However, this wish soon became the worse for Pulsar. After becoming truly alive, Pulsar soon didn’t want to just be another worker and lackey to these treasure theives. He wanted to be free and be able to live a life of his own, and he disagreed with the Squeak Squad’s ways. He didn’t want to really hurt anybody if not necessary, he just wanted to live on his own and be free-going.

Then, he attempted to defy them, although the Squeak Squad was surprised by this, and they thought of him as a threat now, especially Daroach. Doc was horrified to see his own creation turn against him like this. He attempted to deactivate Pulsar, but Pulsar was far beyond simple programming now as a result of the wish on Nova, and he refused to shut down.

Unable to control him now, the Squeak Squad instead banded together, disarmed him, and forced him into an underground vault and locked him away in there. Poor Pulsar then spent many years stuck inside that underground vault, unable to escape.

Now for the part where he becomes someone on the Evil Princess Choco’s side, and how he relates to kamon-san 's Kirby Story.

Much later on, Princess Choco went down and discovered the vault where the Squeak Squad imprisoned Pulsar. Originally, she thought that this was one of the Squeak Squad’s most valuable treasures, which they hid down there for safe keeping. However, once she got into the vault, she finds that the treasure in the vault isn’t really jewels or gold, but a small advanced bronze robot, which is Pulsar, who had spent years in there unable to escape.

Still being active, Pulsar attempted to finally escape the vault, but Choco did not let him do that. Pulsar tried to fight back, but even he is no match for Choco’s power, especially since he was disarmed. She ensnared him with her Tentacle-like Vines. Seeing use in him due to him being a robot, and finding his Bronze Armor to be pretty, she decided to make him useful for her.

While still entangled in her vines, Choco forced open Pulsar’s chest plate and implanted a small device, which she can operate by a Remote. The device allows her to now give Pulsar a painful shock of electricity at the touch of a button, or if she really wants, hit another switch and cause him to explode. She installed the device hard into his main power unit, so that he could not remove it himself.

Following that, Choco released Pulsar from the vines, and told him that Pulsar will now do as she says, or else she will torture him with the remote device, and if he tries to turn against her, she will hit the other switch and destroy him. Pulsar now has no choice, and goes to work for Choco, even though he doesn’t like her or agree with her ways.

Pulsar now helps Choco mainly by building various machines and robots for her, stealing treasure, and sometimes going out to fight for her. He creating a series of security devices and traps around her castle to keep others out, as well as creating an army of Robots for her to give her current army of minions more variety.

He tries to please Choco whenever he does, but more out of the fact that he doesn’t want to be painfully shocked by her remote device. He also fears Choco in general, since she was able to overcome him easily. At first, he was a little belligerent to her, but after a number of harsh electrocutions from her device, he felt that resisting it is useless and that he has no choice but to give her what she wants, whether he likes it or not.

Pulsar’s main abilities is that he can use a number of different tools and weapons, which he mixes and matches in his “Loadout” usually before heading out. He can only equip so many at a time though, and tries to equip which ones would be best for the situation. His tools and weapons attach to those small ports seen on the ends of his wrists. I will later post a reference showing some of the weapons he can equip.

His weapons range from lasers and explosives to katana swords, and long claws, and even more unique ones such as a Ninja Star Gun, and a Gordo Launcher. He also can equip tools such as a high-tech screwdriver and wrench. Most of them were removed when he was locked in the vault, but Choco later found them in another chamber. Others, after being released, he built and designed himself.

He also is skilled at creating various machinery and is good at stealing treasure, which was inherited from his creator, Doc.His wings on his back also allow him to fly, and rather well. In fact, he doesn't require a Warp Star or a ship to travel between worlds, he can just fly there by himself.

Like the other Squeak Squad members (whom he was formerly a part of), Pulsar is weak to Copy Abilities that use Ice, Fire, and Lightning. He is also susceptible to Explosives such as Bomb and Crash, relating to how he is a robot.
However, a unique part about him is that there are some Copy Abilities that do little to no damage to him. He is resistant to Copy Abilities such as Mike, Paint, Bell, Wing, and a few others.
Other Copy Abilities just do regular damage to him

Also notable. Whenever Pulsar takes damage, digital numbers would appear displaying how much damage he had taken, sort of like with another robotic foe, Metal General.

In battle, Pulsar would either fight by himself, using a different loadout of weapons and gadgets each time, or by piloting a massive battle machine that he would’ve created himself, just like Doc would. I’d expect him to be a reoccurring enemy too. Sometimes he'd appear as a Midboss, or a Major Boss.

Pulsar would also create a number of mechanical robots to assist in Princess Choco's army. They would be both Normal Enemies and Mini-Bosses. Some of them would also assist him in battle. The technology of these robots would be very similar to the technology of Doc's machines as well. However, all of them are mindless automatons and do not think for themselves, unlike Pulsar himself.

-----

I think that's all to say about this one. He should be appearing more in kamon-san 's series too.

I also await kamon-san 's opinions on this character, since I designed this one for his Kirby series. I'd just love to see this Robotic Former Squeak Squad member appear in your Kirby Star Warriors Story, kamon-san .
Though kamon-san did say that he likes what I have for him so far, and was really awaiting to see him finished, especially after all the revisions.

Also, for reference, here's some pics of Princess Choco, villainous Kirby character whom Pulsar will unwillingly work for. Be sure to check out his profile to see more on his Kirby Star Warriors series, and his other wonderful works too.

Speaking of Kirby, would you like to hear some choices that I have in mind for the game characters of Kirby?

He almost looks like something from the Sonic franchise.

Like in the Archie Comic or from Sonic X.

Another person I met thought he looked like something out of Bomberman.

Looks like Daroach ordered himself a robot from the Haltmann Works Company(yes I'm aware this was made before Planet Robobot came out).

Yes, but the Kirby thing that me and kamon-san were making takes place before the Robobot Invasion, and during this, he is forcefully now owned by this dark princess here, and he doesn't like it, but he has little choice. -->   Choco - You can call me Queen

However, he could still work as one of the technological things that Haltmann studied and improved. Recall how a bunch of Haltmann's creations are reverse-engineered and improved versions of robots of other origins in Kirby, such as Core Kabula, and Security Force (Metal General). I don't see why he would also try and study and improve Doc's technology as well.

I'm sorry for the late comment, I was inactive for a while ^-^'
I think the design on him looks really creative. I could see him pretty much fitting perfectly in a Kirby game, ESPECIALLY the GBA games like Amazing Mirror. Imagine him there, go on, it's awesome

You did a really good job here!

Thank you so much! I thought so too about him when I designed him! It would be so awesome to see a Boss Fight against this mechanical warrior.

By the way, I finished a more comprehensive reference sheet on him now too. Look and see! -->   hexidextrous.deviantart.com/ar…

I'm working on some other stuff for him, like the weapons and gadgets he can equip, and some battle machines he'd pilot at times too!

Pulsar has a pretty cool design; I like how you've handled his colour scheme. I also like his pose, nicely done rendering and the nicely drawn flames coming out of his wings. One thing though: are the hands and grey parts of Pulsar's torso, arms and legs supposed to be rubber?

Pulsar has a cool story and I like the abilities and weaknesses you've given him.

Nice work Hexidextrous and may Pulsar make it into Kirby Star Warriors Story and be put to good use in it!

kamon-san told me he definitely is going to be part of his Star Warriors story, so yes. I am glad you like him too, I figured you would!

Also those parts are just segmented metal parts, not rubber. It's something I've seen in a lot of other fictional robots for their arms and legs.

Wait till I finish the various weapons and tools he can equip in his loadout.

Woohoo!

Okay. Are those parts some different kind of metal for them not to have lighting?

Sure.

Yes, they are a different kind of metal. He's mostly bronze, but not 100%.

It's rare seeing robot designs since they're not too common in the Kirby verse. It's very nice. c:

Thank you! I thought the same!

It took me a while to get my idea for him right.
Originally, he was going to have larger goggle-like eyes, different-shaped wings, and floating hands like Daroach, Magolor and Taranza have, but I then ditched that for this cooler looking one.

Thanks! It shouldn't be too long till I am done with the reference sheet from the other viewpoint angles and his weapons, as well as the stuff on some of the robots he'd create for Choco's army.

I always loved the Astral Knights in Second Attack. They were so COOL! And the different elemental bombs were a lot of fun too. And, of course, the story was really good. That's probably why its my fave.

Hexidextrous In reply to WiseKarasu [2015-04-01 16:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the storyline was much better, with you instead teaming with Mihaele, and facing against the Demon, Sthertoth, who are both part of a Godly being. The story with Mihaele and Sthertoth reminded me a lot of Hal/Har and Megido in Silhouette-Mirage, who both were against each other but later are revealed to both be part of the great Clod/Armageddon.
Way cooler than the stuff with Altair and Sirius.

I liked the Elemental Bombs too.

Bomberman Hero was okay, but not really as good as the other two if you ask me. Although the vehicles he'd use were pretty fun and awesome.

Hexidextrous In reply to Nico--Neko [2015-04-01 14:49:46 +0000 UTC]

I actually based him more off of Robots like Metal General in Kirby, and on some of the robots in Medabots, SD Gundam Force, Zero Saber in Cosmic Break, and Emerl and MetalSonic from Sonic.

Now that you mention it though, he does kinda look like them though. I'm guessing you think he looks like Sirius and Altair?

I'm glad to hear you like him though. I'm already imagining how he'd interact with Choco's other minions, like Gato and the Mages.

I'm sorry he wasn't what you originally intended. Though that robot design you had in mind I was going to use as an Automaton Worker robot he'd use to help get his work done faster for Princess Choco.

Anything you'd have in mind for other stuff in your Kirby series involving him?
