Not only they share appearance and different forms of the same name, but also the same interests. Jenette from "Aliens" works for the Marine Corps, while Fighting Vipers' Jane wanted to work for it but didn't make it through.Curiously enough, she was completelly redesigned in the sequel to Fighting Vipers, getting blonde hair, a much paler skin and losing her red headwear. Perhaps Sega was afraid of getting sued? Most probably.
