Description Assignment:
Create a music poster A4 size using only abstract elements, geometric shapes, and typography. You will interpret the music from a particular artist that you choose from the list below through this poster. Limit your design only to a palette of 3 colors. Constraints: in this project, we will work only with geometric or abstract shapes. We will not use any figurative representations.

Art Rationale:
When I was listening to the album Funeral by Arcade Fire, I've immediately noticed it has something to do with travelling. Whether it be the song names (Neighbourhood #1 - #4, In the Backseat) or the overall vibe the song was giving (felt like I was on a road trip when listening to songs). For this reason I've decided to go for a 'blurred scene' pattern, which represents the blurred surroundings when driving car in higher speed. Initially I was thinking of capturing this scene from the front seat, but when turning to digital I realized it might look a lot better as the view from side, which can also represent song 'In the Backseat' a bit more.

When making the poster in Illustrator I firstly put the pattern in rectangle, but I felt like there could be some element added, that would break the symmetry. Since I was also thinking of representing a crash, which was described in the last song of the album I felt it would be appropriate portray one 'wave' of the pattern crashing out of its bounds, which gives it also some interesting, main element that catches the eye.

With colors I went for mostly natural colors, since I felt the sound of the songs was very natural. I used different saturation levels, that should represent the contrast between the vivid, happy-ish music and sad, deep lyrics.
