Description The creature stepped forward, advancing towards them, and Severus felt his body beginning to quiver. A loud ringing started in his head, growing louder and louder, and his hand flew up to his head, pressing against it to quell the noise. He groaned and Lucius turned slightly from his protective stance to look at him.
"Severus?" His eyes moved back to the creature, a look of worry moving swiftly across his face. He could hear a faint ringing noise and he could sense the creature trying to get past him, but his own inhuman strength held it at bay. Severus, however, frail as he was in his human state, could not, and the ringing grew only louder until it thudded heavily against his senses until he felt he could no longer take it. He gasped and clenched his eyes shut, collapsing down to his knees, and Lucius jumped to his side, kneeling on the ground with him. "Severus, what is it?" He shot the creature a glance, uncomfortable by his inability to recognize it and the short distance between them. Severus cried out in pain and fell back, thrashing on the ground under the agonizing ache in his head. "Make -- it s-stop!" Lucius whipped out his wand and aimed it at the creature. A stream of red hit the creature square in the chest and it staggered back, but otherwise it seemed unphased by the curse. Lucius shot another, but it only seemed to anger the creature further and judging by Severus' increasing screams, it had increased its attack. Lucius dropped his wand and flew at the creature, using all of his inhuman strength to bring it to its knees. It seemed to have more effect, though something from inside the thing seemed to be drawing Lucius' energy from him. But after a brief struggle, Lucius managed a firm grip around its neck and snapped it. Instantly Severus' screams ceased and he lay panting and twitching on the ground. Making sure the creature was down, Lucius moved back to Severus, helping him up to a sitting position and ran a hand through his hair. "Is it -- are you alright?"
Severus only nodded his head, though keeping his eyes firmly closed. His breathing was hitched and he still seemed to be in some pain, but the suffering of whatever the creature had subjected him to was surely fading away. When he had recovered, he accepted Lucius' hand to help bring him up to his feet again and glanced at the dead creature on the ground a few feet away. "What is -that-? I've never seen it before."
"I don't know. But I've seen a lot during my years, and I've never seen this before. It looks as if something from... well, not here. Earth, I mean."
"Alien?"
"What, you don't think we're alone in this universe, do you?"
"...But -alien-?"
Lucius shrugged, though still quite uneasy to have Severus so close to the thing. "Come on, let's go."
"But I want to know -- what this thing is, and how it could --"
"How it could what?"
"What it did to me... I can't explain it, imagine a thousand Cruciatus curses -stuck- inside your head, only your had. I waited for my head to explode from the pressure. I thought I was going to die."
"But you didn't. Now, let's go." He bent down and picked up his wand.
"Wait."
Severus inched forward, moving towards the creature and after a moment's hesitation, he knelt down beside it. Lucius tensed up, holding a breath he didn't need as he watched Severus trace his wand over the creature's body, as if examining it. After a while he stood up, looking perplexed. "I can't read it. I have no idea what it could be."
"Someone else will find it and either throw it away or take it to the government for some "Area 51" researching. It's not our concern, Severus, I just want to take you home. Please, come with me."
Lucius' pleading made Severus hesitate, studying his face for a moment before nodding his head. "All right, I'm just curious. It's so... strange."
"I know."
Severus turned his back on the creature and made to move towards Lucius again. It was no more than a fraction of a second before an appendage closely resembling a spear pierced through Severus' chest. Lucius' eyes widened. He wheeled forward, catching Severus as he stumbled forward once the 'spear' was removed from his body, and Apparated on the spot. A blink of an eye later they were home, Lucius holding Severus up who seemed to be struggling with his breathing. Blood soaked his clothes and ran down to the floor, and Severus' knees gave in without a warning. Lucius felt the smell of blood and clenched his jaw shut, feeling his fangs threatening to break out instinctively. "Severus!"
Severus clutched at his chest, as if trying to hold the wound closed, but it was too wide and blood poured steadily through his fingers and onto the floor. Lucius watched as his face steadily grew paler, and Severus' body seemed to be pumping out the entirety of the blood in its system. He reached for his wand again, speaking out loud healing spells to stem the flow, to close the wound but Severus had already fallen unconscious. "Stay with me, Severus. Stay with me, do you hear? Severus!" He lay him down on the ground properly and continued working on the wound, noticing black substance around the flesh which the 'spear' had penetrated. Once the wound had been closed, he took Severus into his arms and carried him quickly to the bedroom, laying him down on the bed as he ran with unnatural speed to gather what potions he needed. Severus was still breathing, but barely. The blood-replenishing potion took effect immediately and Lucius let out a sigh of relief upon seeing some color reappear in the boy's cheeks. Another potion and a spell and his breathing seemed to return to normal, albeit still slightly hitched. He brushed his hand over his forehead, pushing hair from his face and pulled a chair up to the bed to remain there for the next half-hour until Severus finally stirred.
"Lucius?"
"I'm here."
"What... happened?"
"It attacked you. I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I let it get to you."
Severus let out a strangled laugh and shook his head. "Don't say that. We don't know what it was, how could you have known you'd killed it."
"Never mind it now, just get some rest."
"I'm fine, don't worry."
"The hell you are. You've just been attacked by some... alien creature--" He cringed at the strange sound of his words. "You're not leaving this bed until you've rested."
"Lucius--"
"End of story."
Severus groaned and fell back onto the bed, looking annoyed like a child forced to bed.
"There we go," Lucius said with a faint tugging of a smile on the corner of his lips, despite the serious look in his eyes.
Severus gritted his teeth and said nothing. He closed his eyes and soon fell under, his body clearly craving the rest Lucius demanded of him.
