Two martens watch their forest burn.9" by 4"
done with watercolor, color pencils, and some acrylic ink.
I was going to try the AC art show for this one, but if someone gives me an offer I can't refuse, I'd be willing to sell. :3

My boyfriend just bought me a print of this for Christmas. It's gorgeous. American martens are extremely important to me, and I've been using them as a metaphor to describe myself for a long time. Especially the redder ones, with the creamy faces. I almost always see art of only the brown furred variety, so I fell in love with this picture. The emotion in it is beautiful, too. It's going on my wall as soon as I can get a frame, and it'll have a place in my future homes for a long time to come. <3

Wow. The subtlety makes it that much more traumatizing. It's so simple, yet so horribly elegant.
I live in California, and we had massive fires during the fall of last year. I've heard you live here, too...was this inspired by that?
Anyways, I wasn't directly affected, but a lot of people lost their homes. This probably portrays well how they felt. It's heartbreaking.
