Description
I think one of the most depressing things, as least one that tends to affect me particularly, is a butterfly whose wings have become so torn that it can no longer fly. Expounding upon that I created my own allegorical figure for depression--Maero, my angel of despair; the patron of those whom life has picked and pulled and torn at until they feel as though they will never fly again.I don't really know what I'm going to do with him now that I've made him.. Work him into a comic maybe? *thinks*
(I thought this idea was pretty original, but if someone else had it first I'm really sorry -_-)

I've never seen a butterfly with torn wings before but it sounds sad, like your pic. I love the wings (In case you haven't noticed by now, I love wings point-blank) and I also like the detail put into Maero's clothes. I definately think you should draw him again (If you haven't already) Maero's too good to just be a one-shot.

I've been trying for years to susessfuly put butterfly wings on a male figure. I have a old character that was supose to have them. I've always failed.
I think you have triumphed were I could not. Plus it is a stunning image and full of feeling. I tip my hat to a better artist then myself. May I some day be as good.

the colors, the wings, the mist and the way you framed it all are perfect. I just thing you could have added some more drama to the person....don't know...it's a very common face with a so beautiful atmosfere

Wow! The coloring and the detail to the pic are really nice! I particularly like the clothes and the wings. As far as I can recall, I don't think there are any other characters like him.

Sad...a butterfly cant ever be picked.. or its wings shall break..u have to let the butterfly come to you... so it is with many persons depressed....u have to show them they can come to you.. and they are t he ones that got to travel the path...

Whoa...Awesome job on the peice, it's beautiful. That effects me too...I get really sad when I see a handicapped butterfly, or when the poor thing's dust...stuff that it needs to fly with has been whipped off by cruel human hands. I remember protecting a ladybug tree in 3rd grade...to keep the kids away from them, and prevent them hurting the poor things. Oh, I'm rambling now! But, butterflies only have a lifespan of what, a week or month or something like that? So, I know that they won't suffer very long.. I'd love to see this guy in a comic.
