My first impression was that this was some kind of dragon tail, then it reminded me of a kind of 'slimy eel thing' that think I saw once in a movie or something, but I can't remember where... great work with the patinas! They look very organic.

It's a hook and eye system. I have a piece of forged copper rod that fits in the middle with a hook on the top and an eye on the bottom. They become connected but can still swing freely
