Description A commission I just finished for of her two characters, Theore (on the left) and Kaid (on the right).

This is one of my first largescale painter projects. The lines were done in OC 1.1, and I did a bit of touchup in PS, but it was otherwise aaaaalll painter. I still have a LOT to learn, but I love the effects it gives.

On a side note... I am getting really tired of DA not loading pictures. I hope they fix it soon.

Now, isn't painter cool? XD I think your coluring isstunning whatever program you use, this is no exception! I especially love the lighting on this (you know, how Kaid looks brighter than Theore, in the shade, I really like it when the colours reflect so) Also that grass is so well done, and hey, I can learn form some details such as the blue toches in the tree!

I am in love with this. It makes me want to try Painter... I don't remember if that was part of the bundle with the tablet though. But man, if Painter is this much better than Photochop I might have to brave the unknown and try it out! This is fantastic!

I like it. The blonde fellow looks like hes gonna steak that tail X_X. I have zero experience with the pratical use of paint programs. I've just doodled with hibb over OC. My experience with crossing data between differnt programs has been pretty bad though. Back in High school I would start typing a paper in class on a computer that only had Corel word perfect as a word processer. When I got home to continue working I found that my text was intact, as in all the words were there, but it had lost all of its page alignment. I realize we are talking about two totally differnt processes here but is it never a problem to take a picture from one paint program to another?

wow your really good at painter! what version do you have?? i only have like version2 that came with my tablet, but i love how it paints, so really am thinking of buying it. v.2 works, i just hafta take my colors and lines seprately in PS afterwards, which is sort of annoying

hibbary In reply to NatAsplund [2007-01-09 05:04:22 +0000 UTC]

Mine is ver. 9, I believe.

yeah, I have to do my lines seperately, too, and it IS annoying D: Too much swapping around.

NatAsplund In reply to hibbary [2007-01-09 05:19:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it's frustrating.... do you know if everyone hasta do that??

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

spiritwolf77 In reply to NatAsplund [2007-01-11 05:09:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I typically do my lines in pencil and just paint under them, or do them in Flash, import them into PS, do the flat color in PS, and paint in Painter. Then I bring it all back to PS for final touches. It's a little annoying sometimes but you get used to it after a while.

NatAsplund In reply to spiritwolf77 [2007-01-12 06:32:10 +0000 UTC]

Ah thanks Chelsea, i knew you used it... ok well at least i know its not just my low version of it, i'll just use that then! thanks again!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

hibbary In reply to NatAsplund [2007-01-09 05:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, if you are trying ot do a semi-toon version, and you want to outline, I imagine other programs are better. But some people go with a purely painterly look, which involves no lines. Some just scan a pencil sketch and paint under or over that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NatAsplund In reply to hibbary [2007-01-09 05:33:05 +0000 UTC]

yeah see thats what i mean is i can't color under the lines like in PS i'm not even sure if i can set it as multiply, so i have to delete my sketch layer save the image and put the colores and lines in PS together... its a real hassel... but i looooooove the painty effect in Painter sooooo much! lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hibbary In reply to NatAsplund [2007-01-09 05:37:33 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea about Painter 2, but I know that in nine, you can set a layer to multiply.
