Oftentimes the way a dyed piece of paper comes out is what dictates what goes onto it. Seeing the orange and blue with the leaf patterns I couldn't help but think of a deep, cool pond. And I love koifish.The background was made with acrylic ink and various leaves. The koi was painted with acrylic.

Wow. This makes me want to experiment more with my inks. I absolutely love how it fades from warm to cool colors and the details of the leaves in the water, not to mention the koi itself. This looks perfect.

This is very beautifully done. Finding the image on colored or textured paper is one of my favorite methods of inspiration, even if it doesn't completely work out I usually get something interesting out of it. Thank you for sharing this with us! ^_^

Did you press the leaves? I can never seem to get a nice pattern ... =/

I did not. They need either to be green leaves or soaked leaves so that they lay flat on the paper. Curled up brown, dry leaves won't do. But you can soak them for a day or so to make them more pliant.

Oh really? Those are the actual leaves on the paper? I have played around with that and got OK effects, but I did not color them.
