Nadia has lived as long a life as many could dream to have, but it was not spent in the most enjoyable of ways. From birth under the waves, her interest had been in other beings as intelligent as she was, and wanted the company of other beings that didn’t swim away at first sight of a larger creature like her. Unfortunately, every attempt at conversation with passing mermaids or other sentient life was met with apprehensive fear and caution of her outlandish form. After one too many times she could hear the whispering of those who were afraid of her behind her back, she took to the surface to attempt contact with the adventurous human life aboard the ships of the age of exploration, but was quickly met with attacks from the privateers and pirates whom went on to exaggerate her grotesque form to their drunken friends in the taverns.
With little hope for companionship, Nadia secluded herself in the deepest crevices of the Mariana Trench for years upon years. With herself as her only colleague for many a century, her pursuits focused on furthering her intellect led her to discovering magecraft. With ample time to learn, Nadia had accumulated knowledge on many forms of magic and even learned to perform magic herself. Capable of changing her size, blessing others with water breathing capabilities, telepathic communication, generating sources of bright light, and countless other useful spells for a dweller of the deep. Overtime, her magical skills grew and grew, until she became powerful enough to raise tides and control currents, and the merfolk of the deep began to call her (to her humor) a Sea Witch.
Over the years, her depression and loneliness seemed to die out and curiosity drove her to return to open waters again. Returning to a world where humans are hunting and capturing monsters, Nadia took it upon herself to fight back and protect her kind. Sinking slavery ships with her magic and spiriting away their captured creatures to safety off nearby shores, while she took up new residence in the Bermuda Triangle that she surrounded in dangerous magics...
