Uuah, just finished this.Tired of it now, don't wanna mess any further with it.
This was my 2nd round challenge entry for Sijun, topic being Doomsday.
I know you don't wanna hear this, but I am not exactly happy with it. Alien design is lame and it lacks scale clarity somehow...
well, the whole concept is just plain sterotypical and the city design is just one of those I always end up doing. Wish I'd have more interesting shapes for the buildings - too late now...
I like the sky colors...
I painted over an older rough 3D model render of simple box buildings.
7 h for this, no ref., took advantage of using a ruler on the Cintiq again here for quick detailling...
might come back later and fix up things...
Oh yeah, figure out yourselves what TEOTWAWKI means!

light, feeling pretty psyched.

There were a few things I didn't like about it (mind you I haven't watched the entire thing out yet), but it seemed decent. Just be forewarned some odd sex-related things do occur, such as guys dressing as girls. >.<

I think the alien design nods towards evangelion. Not a straight interpretation, but when I look at this design evangelion floats to the surface of my mind.
For scale I would have put in a plane or something flying, but since I can't draw a straight line without a ruler, who am I to comment.

I agree a bit with the comments regarding the sameness of the city - perhaps a bit of flying traffic ala Star Wars altering course because of the gigantic monsters?

I think I see what you mean with the criticism you direct at your own art. The city does tend to look a bit samey - shades of grey, very drab and functional. Perhaps you could look at new city that they're building in the United Arab Emirates at the moment (forgot its name) for inspiration, and show some panic in the populace? Of course, might be hard to pull the last one off from such a distance.
That said, of course it's far better than anything I could accomplish.

I like the angle at which you view the buildings the best, but I don't really like the aliens (no offense) They look good but they're just a bit too... stereotypical... keep up the awesome work though) (I'm feeling a little jealous

sieht zwar wie immer ziemlich gut aus, aber irgendwie wirkt es zu statisch.
zwar sieht man bei dem ersten Mecha-Alien die Fetzen rumfliegen aber die GebΓ€ude scheinen merkwΓΌrdigerweise noch heile zu sein O,o
Wie wΓ€rs mal mit bissel zerstΓΆrung im Bild? Vlt. wΓΌrds dir dann mehr gefallen =x z.B. die HochhΓ€user die grad vom Alien da gestreift werden bissel kaputter machen und vlt. Stromausfall oder sowas.. paar Laser/Beam/Whatever Waffen und die dazugehΓΆrigen Effekte wΓΌrden glaub auch bissel was raushauen.. joaa.. aber ansonsten wie immer doch recht gut geworden =3
