Looks like a marasmius, a GARLIC marasmius. X3
Man where DO you live?! Its fungus city!
Makes you out to be one very "fun-guy". Get it? XD
Nice shot, whether it be a marasmius, doubtfully a psilocybe, or another species that likes moss and swamp. <3

Thanks! i definitely didn't know what it was. (I'm pretty sure it's not a psilocybe, though i have spotted my share of those as well).
I live in the Pacific Northwest US, with some of the greatest diversity of fungi species in the world. Probably why i grew to love them so much.

Yeah, like I said DOUBTFULLY a psilocybe. XD I don't think I've ever seen a cluster of them grow in moss. That and well...marasmius---ALSO sounds like marasmus which is basically a swamp, and I'll bet anything the area you were in was slightly boggy. Am I correct? ((of course marasmi aren't RESERVED for swamps, but they like 'em. ))
MAN! I need to MOVE OUT THERE! There aren't many types of fungus that grow here. We have our share of unusual species compared to where I USED to live, but not like your region!

only very slightly boggy. i probably wouldn't even describe my woods like that, but moist indeed. oh and i actually have seen a psilocybe in moss before, so there's that.
it is an incredible place to live. almost all my shots are taken in the last little patch of old growth forest in the area. luckily it's in a land trust, so no fear for these little beauties.

See now I don't know it all! <3 I've never seen one, but thats probably because 10 out of 12 months its dry here. X__x
Amazing. I've heard stories about your area, and its made me wish to move there BADLY. The only time we get fungus here ((that you can see )) is in the fall, and those are usually giant puffballs,---SOMETIMES we have psiocybes, lepiotas, and the occasional destroying angel. We've only ONCE gotten a fairy ring of a common toadstool species, and when I moved here seven years ago, I saw ONE beefsteak lobe and spotted a Yellow orange fly agaric on the mountain. I saw one family collybia once, and we have a rare parasol in the spring. I saw my first cluster of velvet foots last fall, and they were infested with beetles.
All in all, I MAY have seen about a dozen species in 7 years here, NOT counting the puffball.

Oh thats a crying shame! They're such beautiful constructs. This is why mushrooms should live longer. So people like us who NEVER HAVE THEIR CAMERAS AT THE RIGHT TIME-can capture them in all their beauty.
And that sounds like a plan. <3 Also considering gas prices these years I'm not sure I could make it out there and back in record time, in my 77 chevelle. XD 16-18 MPG? PLZ! Might as well drive a Yukon, but at least it looks nice. X3

haha. here in the land of priuses, your car would not only be scorned, but you probably couldn't afford to fill it up.
prices are so ridiculous here in seattle - gas, vehicles, cost of living... i'm almost done with school for the year though, and then i'll be heading home a couple hours away. wish me luck on my finals. have a great weekend and don't give up on figuring out a way to visit the million species of shrooms that await!

My poor car is such a beautiful outcast. XD I understand, things are expensive HERE in the land of the poor, I can't imagine how bad things are in SEATTLE. D: I know things are bad in my old hometown of flint, and thats not even as big as seattle by far.
I'll definitely be wishing you the best of luck! College can be such a battering! X__X ((But oh how I would enjoy the beating XD )) And I'll NEVER give up on a chance! Someday I hope to travel more than I do now. XD Can't stay in this tiny ass town forever!
