Yeah, in canon, Norway calls Denmark "あんこ" which means "older brother" in some northern dialects. Similarly, Denmark has been known to call Norway　"兄弟" which means "sibling/younger brother".

It's not that unusual in Japanese to call someone the title of a family member even if you're not actually related (for example, you could call some random middle-aged man "uncle" even though you've never met him before), so whether there is actually any blood relation is unclear.

Then again, based on my limited knowledge, there are quite a few similarities, both culturally and linguistically between Denmark and Norway, so they may actually be brothers. Denmark confuses things even further by sometimes choosing to call Norway "親友" (meaning something like "good buddy")... who even knows? Sorry for rambling

I hear you on that. I started shipping them before I found out that "anko" meant brother, so I was conflicted when I was finally able to locate the translation of that word :/ Now I just tell myself it's like calling a friend/acquaintence "bro" and I can continue on my merry shipping way XD
