Wanted something special in time for my birthday, I decided to show when Ash finally finds out about Misty´s untold past she kept for herself… that after her family got attacked during a cruise by raging Gyarados, in the aftermath they were left orphans and had to take care of each other...
Taking place in the middle of the Fusion League in Kanto, where Misty tells the team she is going to be home for a few days, but as Ash wants to surprise her, he goes to visit, first at the gym only to find the sisters in not the best of mood, and Misty inside the home, so Ash goes to see her …

With Misty´s sisters telling him what was going on, Ash got even more concerned as he decided against their wishes to enter the house to surprise Misty as well as see what was happening. Having silently entered the house through the unlocked back door, Ash saw that no lights were on at all.
Carefully walking through the kitchen and down the corridor, Ash slowed down once Pikachu seemed to notice something. Approaching Misty´s room, Ash could hear her lightly sob, but just as Ash was about to rush in, Pikachu´s mood got down as Ash instead slowly peaked in near the doorframe.
And saw her. Sitting on her bed with her back against the door, Misty looked up at her window, slightly sobbing before looking down at something in her hands. Unable to see it and unsure what it was, Ash decided to wait and see as he then heard Misty laugh slightly and think out loud for herself.
” Happy anniversary mom… not exactly what anyone of us expected it to be… but after reading this… I understand you so much better… from you meeting dad and how you felt about your family... to how your life changed once me and my sisters was a part in both your lives… things were so perfect…
But it doesn´t change that the past took place… it all happened… you´re still gone… Lora… dad too… I still got so many questions unanswered… most importantly… where are you… what really happened to you… if I only knew that… then maybe… I can finally leave it all behind… and focus on my future… ”
Misty suddenly heard Pikachu gently call out her name as she somewhat froze. Misty then called out for Ash, unsure if he was behind her, but hearing him respond back, she closed her eyes. As she then asked Ash how long he stood by the door. Leaving Pikachu at the corridor, Ash got closer to Misty.
Ash: Just got here… I wanted to surprise you… Daisy told me everything… then I heard you just now …
Misty: They shouldn´t have…Ash…I´m sorry… I didn’t want to tell you… there was no need to know…
Ash: How can you say that… after what your sisters told me… why you´re here…and what happened…
Misty: That´s why when we three were away… I wanted some privacy… for my parent´s anniversary…
Ash: You told me and Brock long ago that they´re out at sea while you all take care of the gym…
Misty: That´s true… but I didn´t want to tell you Ash… that they aren´t coming back… they can´t…
Ash: I didn´t know… Misty… I understand… why you didn´t want to tell at least back then… but now…
Misty: I planned to tell eventually… well once I got here, I found this by chance… mom´s old diary…
Almost standing next to Misty, Ash then sat down and took hold of the diary, being careful due to its age and condition. Opening it, Ash slightly teared up as the first thing he saw was a family picture with Melissa and Michael along with Daisy, Violet, Lily and Misty when young, all grouped together.
Turning the page page, Ash saw Melissa´s writing about meeting Michael, as he skimmed through the first page slightly before closing the diary. Putting it aside, Ash took notice of a new picture, framed on the nightstand. Taking it in his hand, Ash saw it was a wedding picture of Melissa and Michael.
Ash: So this is a pic of your mom and dad… seems you got her looks the most unlike your sisters…
Misty: Yeah… I took it out for today… otherwise we usually keep it and the rest stored away…
Ash: Why wouldn´t you want it to be around at home all the time…it´s your mom and dad…
Misty: Because a part of me wants to forget Ash… but still… at the same time keep them close…
Ash: I guess it´s the same with my mom… she doesn´t have her old photos up around the house…
Misty: I know how you feel about your dad, and with Brock´s history… I couldn´t tell you too…
Ash: You should´ve told us… and not kept that for yourself… you were the only one with that secret…
Misty: It´s not just about bothering you… but it´s a new life I have that doesn´t include the past…
Ash got close and let Misty rest her head on his shoulder, as she then also took hold of his hand. Pikachu remained in the corridor before decided to leave to give them both some privacy as well as go find Togekiss. Just holding each other, Ash felt Misty somewhat shake as he held her hand tighter.
Ash: So it´s true what Daisy said ? That you… blamed yourself for what had happened to them ?
Misty: There is more to that… a lot of things happened… maybe if differently… they´d still be here…
Ash: Still… you were just a kid… even your sisters… what could you have possibly done different?
Misty: If I had defied my mom… even not going on that cruise… perhaps we wouldn´t have gone…
Ash: Wait… just like Professor Oak… now that we know… Misty… why don´t we ask Celebi… we can…
Misty: Ash no… we can´t do it… I mean… as much as I have thought about that… it wouldn´t be right…
Ash: What do you mean ?! After all you have done and been through… it´s the very least you can …
Misty: It´s not that…even if I could change the past… and save them… you know it affects the future…
What can ash do to help Misty through her burdened past, and why won´t Misty use Celebi to change her past ?
