Do you more often layer the same color on top of itself, or do you use different markers to create your lights and darks?

Different markers at first and then lay on a little more color with the lightest color. The key to smooth looking transition between the different colors is to use the darkest color first and the to blend thenext color over it while coloring the next stage of shadows.
