I think it was more of the gem equivalent of Frankenstein's monster. Anybody would be freaked out by that. Especially if you knew the people whose bodies were used to make the monster, and were friends with them, and fought with them.

But since, to Garnet's perspective, fusing is a form of love, and the fact it's the fusion of a bunch of disembodied Gems, then it'sΒ the gem equivalent of Frankenstein's monster raping itself.

I see where you're coming from but fusion to me is symbolic and is a metaphor for relationships between the two or more that are fused, if it was about love, what does that make Malachite, Sugilite, etc.? And what determines how different they are? Pearl 'loved' Rose, yet their fusion was imperfect. And Pearl often or at least used to not get along very well with Amethyst, yet where everything went wrong with Rainbow Quartz went right with Opal, and vice versa, if an imperfect fusion or the cluster is considered rape, then that would imply fusion is the gem equivalent of sex, and if so then guess what Steven and Connie do when they fuse into Stevonnie? I know they love each other or at least are very close, but I don't think they're ready for that, cuz that's just creepy. And that would mean when the gems tried to teach Steven how to fuse with them, they were teaching Steven sex, with them. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? Not to mention creepy and stuff. It doesn't matter if a fusion is formed out of love or hate, or is a cluster, it is either a perfect or imperfect fusion because of the relationship, and a forced fusion is a forced situation, or a forced relationship, a bad one, it is not rape but still a bad thing nonetheless. Understand that I'm not taking you on, I'm just giving you my opinion about a subject were debating about, so don't take it harshly, please. I don't think the cluster was rape or necrophilia, but if you still think otherwise, then okay. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Okay, look at it like this:
They are dead gems fused together, and Garnet believes that fusing is the equivalent to gem fucking.
Having sex with a corpse is called necrophilia.
Forcing someone to have sex is rape (unless its a woman forcing a guy).
The cluster is a bunch of dead gems forced to fuse into a abomination.
Essentially, Peridot is forcing dead gems to fuck.
Therefore, clusters are essentially necrophiliac rape.

Bruh, I already knew all this, (I don't live under a rock, lol), but how do you 'kill' a gem per say? Sure you can stab them and push them off as many hills as you want, but they'll just retreat into their gem. And even if you destroy the gemstone you'll only be breaking it into several pieces, and even then their will be a consciousness in those pieces that will retain a physical form, no matter how weak that form may be. And then you'd have to make them retreat into the gem, and make sure there is no space for them to recover their physical form, i.e., (burying the shards and/or bubbling them). So if they don't really die then it isn't really necrophilic, is it? If they were truly 'dead' in the literal sense of the word, then the subject at hand wouldn't even be possible. And if Garnet views fusion as sex, then she must see herself as the embodiment of Ruby and Sapphire's thousands of years old sex life, (though it's kinda funny if you look at it like that), and was okay with Steven having pre-adolescent sex with Connie, and guess what, they're both children. I don't think Garnet would be okay with that, (especially Connie's parents, lol), no matter how little her understanding is of Steven and his age/biology/etc. And that would make Greg okay with that, too, since she's the one who told him about fusion, that makes it really messed up now, doesn't it? And that would mean Jasper was defeated by Lapis and Garnet by using the power of sex, and that they both lost themselves in said sex. Lmao it'll only get worse from here. I don't think Peridot forced fused these gems tho, I think she activated them or turned them on, or released them from the ground so they could have a physical form. But frankly that piece about Peridot not force-fusing those gems Β is just pure speculation. But the rest of it I'm serious about. Fusion should not be seen as sex, cuz then if it is, then a lot of this shows lessons and meanings become very dark, creepy and disturbing, (like it wasn't already, I mean look the cluster, the war, Onion, etc.) I view fusion as a tool for a certain use, whether fighting or otherwise, and the strength of that fusion comes from the relationship of the ones who are fused, regardless of whether it was a romantic relationship or not. Ruby and Sapphire just use fusion as a means of staying close to each other, to have the ultimate connection that makes them stronger, together. (Cue 'Stronger Than You'). And I'm not trying to take away from the horror that is the cluster, it's still bad being forced in a bad situation or a bad relationship you can't get out of, which was almost what Sugilite became, and what Malachite is now, and essentially what the cluster/forced fusions are. Of course it's important to have consent, and yeah, fusion is vague and will be interpreted differently by everyone, but seeing it as sex is just fucking weird and none sensical to me, for all the reasons I've said before and listed here. Anyway, you are entitled to your own opinion and this whole argument is probably for nothing but it was fun debating with you nonetheless. And no, I don't have a tumblr, lmao.
