Description Ah, (Name) (Last Name). Better known as República Federativa do Brasil, but for friends, simply Brazil.

A cheerful girl, always with a smile on her face. She was beautiful, no one could deny that. She loved spending time in her wonderful beaches sun-bathing, or either dancing; thought what really made her happy was bug big ol’ Portugal about how she was much larger than him.

She was quite impressive;  thought she couldn’t help but admire the other nations immensely.  The French; beautiful streets and nice population. The Spanish; a cheerful nation that got along with almost everyone. The list keeps going on. But there was one person that she respected true heartedly.

His name was Alfred.

She couldn’t even begin to describe how much she respected America. Kind of like Germany and the Roman Empire. While some saw him as a obnoxious guy idiotic guy, she saw him as a advanced and smart man. He was one of the most advanced and rich nations in Earth after all.

Alfred and (Name) were nice friends. Not a lot of people knew it, but the two had quite a lot in common, so it was always easy to keep a conversation and to spend time together. She got quite attached to him, and the inevitable happened; she fell for him. Even though sometimes he was annoying and liked to show he was superior than her –which created a love/hate relationship between them-, she couldn’t manage her feeling towards the blonde.
But one day, it just crossed the line.

“Jones!” (Name) stormed inside the meeting room. Countries were discussing stupid matters as usual, creating a huge mess in the large room –though today it wasn’t as bad as usual, so most of the nations heard (Name)’s yell.

The blonde snapped her head towards her, already preparing a chanting smile that faded immediately at the sight of her fed up expression. He could tell this wasn’t going to be good; but he decided to simply smile. “Yeah, dudette?”

“Don’t ‘dudette’ me…!” She nearly screamed, calling attention of the whole meeting room. She really couldn’t care less right now, though. She grabbed a plastic paste and threw it on the table, letting out a loud ‘Splat!’ sound. “Explain. Now.”

Alfred was confused. What happened to his bubbly friend, who always smiled and never got mad at anyone? What could he have possibly done that angered her this much? He grabbed the paste with cautious hands and opened it.

He couldn’t believe his eyes.

In his hands, were held ultra-secret documents from the government. His government. In the papers, was written the explanation of the ‘Goal’ operation. His eyes snapped huge and his hands started unconsciously shaking.

“(Name), I-I…”

“You’ve been spying on me?! My boss?! My people?!” She yelled. Her face was flushed deep red in anger, and she really didn’t understand why she hadn’t strangled him yet.

You see, the papers contained the files that Snowden* leaked, and that ended up in (Name)’s hands. It basically explained the ‘Goal’ operation, where the NSA monitored from phone calls to e-mails of the Brazilian population. It also explained how the president was also monitored, by recording the phone numbers and virtual addresses she used.

“You placed basically the most powerful investigation organization in the world to spy on me?! Imbecil, What the hell were you thinking?!” She loudly spoke at him again. He extended his hands in a shrugging manner and sweatdropped, smiling nervously.

“(N-Name), y-you see, my boss… I-I didn’t have a choice…!” He stuttered out nervously, slowly backing away from the angry girl, who stepped closer to each step he gave backwards.

“’Não tinha opção o cacete!” She complained, turning around and walking away from him slightly, to then look through her shoulder to him. Her hand was turned into a fist. “You think you can just spy on me whenever you want…? You think you can control me like that…?”
She turned to him again, angry tears rising in her (e/c) eyes. “What about that freedom you fought for so many years ago, Alfred?! You think others don’t deserve it as well?!” He seemed to be more affected by the last comment she threw at him. “In case you didn’t know, I fought for mine too! And I won’t accept going through the process of being controlled again! Never!”

The other nations were paying extreme attention to their conversation. Some, just for curiosity. But a few of them started wondering, “If he monitors Brazil and she just found out now, does that mean I may be being watched right now?”

“And… just like so many years ago…” She was now looking down, with tears running down her cheeks and a dumbfounded America looking down at her “I will fight for my freedom.” America widened his eyes again.

“(Name)…”  He muttered. This really wasn’t necessary… was it?

She looked back up at him again, a determined look in her face. “Listen here; I don’t care if your army is bigger than mine. I don’t give a shit if you’re more powerful than me, and right now, eu não me importo se você é meu amigo ou não, já que nossa amizade não têm nada a ver com meu povo e seus direitos. Understand that if I ever see your pretty face wandering around my people’s information, I will definitely not be scared of starting a war.”

Everyone looked surprised. Brazil never really got into wars, so seeing her declaring one was quite… new. “Do you understand?” He just nodded.

She straightened up and picked up the paste from his hands, storming out of the room just like she came in. She slammed the door closed and as soon as she was out of view, she rested her back on the wall and slid down, her head resting on her knees. The unstoppable tears were now leaking from her red eyes. She saw her boss approaching her from the corner of her eyes. She picked up the paste and left in the same instant, leaving a sobbing (Name) in the middle of the corridor. “Huh, how ironic.” She wiped the tears off her eyes, opening space to new ones. “There I was speaking of freedom, and how much I fought to get it. But was I ever actually free?”

She slowly pushed herself up and approached the elevator, pressing the button and waiting for it to reach her floor. Alfred didn’t have a choice? Seems she didn’t either.

That was a sad ending, but well written. I thought it was very interesting about how you added in the concept that the countries basically had to do what their "bosses" said to, even if they don't agree.
