Description
The blade;
subtle in its temptation, gleaming in the delicate sunlight.
I try to resist, but as the sun beam fades, so with it does the light within me.
I grasp the handle,
hold it close to my chest, point to my heart.
Time around me stops…. I’m all alone, only I exist
I wait……
Taking in all around me.
then I take in a last breath before….

before driving the knife through my hardened heart with relentless vigour.
Finally I’m free, finally I'm released, finally I feel myself escape from the cage
I look back at the lifeless shell I’ve left behind
And as time restarts no-one notices the limp body laying in the gutter.
The sun, again, pierces through the darkened clouds;
reflecting off the fallen blade.
Then I see the next desperate soul collapse to their knees,
taking the blade into their clutches.
I watch helplessly as I see him contemplate what he is about to do.
Time slows.
Stops!
then the deep breath, I look away as I know what comes next.
The fatal cycle is repeated, completed!
But soon it shall be started again.
And so, as it once was so shall it be again, the pain of the,
