Finally done! This one took a while
Thanks to those who suggested I paint my regular style for this one, I think it turned out better than a speed painting ^_~
So for those who are familiar with Rurouni Kenshin, we all know and love this scene with the fireflies- I think its episode 31...?
Anywho, Kenshin is now leaving for Kyoto and must leave Kaoru and the gang behind. It was a heart-wrenching scene, in my opinion, but was missing one little detail...A KISS!!!!
Sure, Kenshin HUGGED her, but damn it boy, kiss her!
*AHEM* Now that my rant is over...
This is the first time I have painted without using color overlays. Usually I paint the skin color normally then add whatever color I want with overlays and such, but I took the colors straight from the scene itself.

Yup! Too bad it did not. I'm sure is pissed to know that Watsuki is actually a Tomoe fan. :/ No wonder Kenji actually hated his father. Kenshin must have been indifferent to him. After all, even without the Seishouhen, Kenji would still be a twisted genius. Ever wonder about that?Β

no, i don't believe that Watsuki sensei is actually a Tomoe fan.. Because he named Kaoru after his own wife... i read that somewhere...

Actually, yes he is. It is actually in one of the interviews that were translated from Chinese (I think) that he said that if the Kyoto arc was not made then Kaoru would've been dead. I dunno how but he said that she'll just die. Good thing that Kyoto arc came along and gave our favorite couple a chance since he said in the interview that had Kenshin left Kaoru after the arc, he would be a villain in fans' eyes. There's also the fact that if Kaoru indeed die then there's no happy ending possible for Kenshin and because of this that he made them a couple. Furthermore, Watsuki openly stated in the same interview that Kaoru is meant to experience the pain of rejection. See? Tomoe's character is already thought of at the time and thus, if he was into tragic dramas then Kaoru really would never get together with Kenshin. He will reject her for Tomoe, no matter how I hate that sound. I don't really hate Tomoe but I would really attack her with flames if I see her fans flaming Kaoru.Β

I LOVED HIS hair, both styles, though I was shocked when he cut it. Took me forever to remember all the different characters, swords, techniques. O_O Forgot how much I adored this... Never watched the anime, tho'.
... Wait the first video's in such a different style! (I loved the one where Kenji was playing with the swords XD)

^_^ Me too! And wait, I must have missed that, he cuts his hair??? Must be in the manga, I have only read part of it! i have seen all of the anime though and he doesnt cut it in it
I will have to go look for what he looks like!
Oh and about the two different styles- the first one, the more realistic one, is from the OVA series of the anime, called Samurai X. It is basically the prequel to the anime and tells the story of Tomoe and Enishis involvement in Kenshins life.
The second is the actual original animes style, and was released in Japan only *damn them* for the 15th anniversary of the series.
Sorry, I assumed you had seen the anime, sorry for the confusion! ^_~

XD at the very end, after you see Kaoru with Kenji, you see he's cut his hair and due to an injury he can no longer swordfight. (maybe this was the shonen-jump only extra?)

I did notice his scar was on the wrong cheek cause I just look so close at detail but it doesn't really bother me as it usually does cause of how awesome the picture is! There just isn't enough good artwork for RK so I hope you draw more!! 5/5!!
