um, I haven't been reading the comics, but are those baby nightcrawlers or just figments of his imagination like Deadpool?

Those lil nightcrawlers are called Bamfs and they were raised by Azazel (Kurts father) and used to be red. But then Kurt promised them something so they became good again.

As far I've gotten it Kitty creates them in a different dimension (which she also have created) and the beings there are based on memories of her friends from the X-men
