Description OK, I’m a bit confused. Twenty years ago I was told by my teachers that America would be more tropical and winter with snow would be a distant memory. I grew up in Michigan and winters there are hit or miss in the South East. Some years we’d have tons of snow with others very little or replaced by rain. Now Polar Bears are considered threatened despite historic high populations and attitudes that would prove otherwise (i.e. they are F@#$ing KILLERS).
(Edit Aug. 14, 2011) Follow up. After spending some time looking through the subject and reading many pages of data. We are looking at climate change. I was caught up in all the hyperbole and for that I apologize. This is actually normal weather in the Rockies. AS for climate change it's very real and our world is not going to get hotter as it is going to get wetter and shifts in the climate will change the face of the Earth. The Great Plains could easily turn into a desert and the Sahara could become tropical though this would take thousands of years and in that time. The Great Lakes through natural erosion carve a cannon which will fill again large lakes perhaps becoming a salt water once it hits the giant salt deposits. The world will change and how we survive it depends on our willingness not to turn a blind eye.
