Description Well, it's Halloween again and I've been asked by the powers that sign my paycheck to design Halloween party plates for the '05 year. These will be presented to a certain unnameable chain of SUPERSTORES. *hint *hint*
Halloween '05 you may be thinking? But it's not even Halloween '04 yet! That's right folks, major chain stores like to be ahead by at least a year. So, by next year you will have forgotten that you saw these, but maybe if it's picked up and mass produced you'll look on a shelf and remember that you saw it here first, pick them up and enjoy my artwork! Wouldn't that be nice?

This piece was produced entirely in Illustrator. The approach was a pumpkin kid (male or female) out trick or treating with some Halloween pals. I really like the tonal colors and qualities between the houses and the starry night sky. The pumpkin guy was just a joy to sketch out on paper and when I produced it in Illustrator the colors just started popping. Sometimes you've just got to walk that fine line between cartoony and well designed. ENJOY!

I LOVE how you use illustrator. The image is super cute, and has just enough detail.

You know.. I've always been curious about marketing for the holidays (halloween in particular). I don't know if you've designed Halloween cards before.. but even if you haven't, I'm sure you've seen the cards out on the shelves. Who actually *buys* halloween cards? And who would you give them to?? O.o

If you can figure that one out you've figured out one of the greatest mysteries in marketing history! I'm always amazed at some of the stuff we end up designing for. Very particular themes and celebrations that I would never think of actually buying items and supplies for a party. However, my wife is one of those people that seem to buy cards for everything! So, there's always someone out there for every product. thanks for the fun comments. It's always good to feel appreciated!

Wheee! I gotta say... I think my favorite part about this is the happy little ghost thing in the back.

Yay for happy ghost thing in the back! I've had mixed comments about the ghost around work but I don't really care! I like the ghost guy too! The piece needs something exactly where that ghost is and I don't feel that a flying hootie owl will ever have the same halloween impact as a cooly ghost thing. END OF STORY.

As I've probably said before, I am always awestruck by how adept you are when putting colours together. When I see your designs on the napkins and plates and cups at these *SUPERSTORES,* I'm have a big smile on my face, thinking, hey, I KNOW THAT ILLUSTRATOR!!!
