Description Some new elements visible here are the reworked front sight, which has more layers and should no longer snap off so easily, and the magazine with a cartridge in it. I wouldn't recommend actually trying to cycle it, though. There's a chamber and all, but the bolt doesn't really grasp the cartridge and it will all just get stuck. It's really just there to look cool, so it's probably better to set the follower low enough that the bolt can clear the top cartridge instead of contacting it.

Why is the side rail a different color? Because I built most of this model on one set of toner, which ran out before I could finish, so the last pages were printed with new toner and thus deeper color.

Is it possible to make your weapons out of cardboard. If so what kind of cardboard is best for making your models.

You wouldn't print it on cardboard, because nothing would fit together quite right. However, you could theoretically insert pieces of cardboard into the paper components. It would need to be fairly thin cardobard that's easy to cut.

I had to go through all the pics before realizing this is indeed paper: I counldn't believe it.
Maybe it's the blocky structure of the AK rifles, but looked real.

Good, that means it turned out well. There are some elements of the gun that don't lend themselves to paper that esaily, such as the furniture and the dust cover, so I haven't been able to model them 100% correctly, but looks like it's close enough.

Yep!
Sorry for asking, but I'm not a great expert: can I ask you what are the differences between the AK-74 you made and an AK-47? They look very similar to me.

Yep, they're similar because that's my iterative process, refining things little by little and applying lessons learned with each build.
Aside from the 74-specific parts (magazine, stock, gas block, and muzzle break), the main difference is that the AK-74, being built later, has the parts fitting better together, is a little sturdier, and some errors corrected (For one, the bolt actually turns correctly when in the forward position).
Also, the 74 has mounting for springs on the trigger and hammer, so those parts ca actually move correctly. On the AKM V2, they're there, but they don't actually do anything. Also the 74 has cartridges modeled.

(The AKM V1, in case you're curious, is much simpler, at around half as many pages. It's not very detailed, and tends to crumple and break apart easily.)
