Description Same Hammershot - different hammer. The 3d-printed Hammer (made by the good people of blasterparts.de) arrived just in time.

Great work, could I ask how you got the rust effect?

Glad you like it!
For the rust effect you are going to need a sponge and several acrylic paints (I use Vallejo Game Color - they are a lot like the Citadel colors but a little cheaper) - brown, ocre, orange and metal. After you have done the usual preparation on the blaster (e.g. sanding the surface, washing it, applying a primer) you will have to paint the blaster black (or at least the parts that are supposed to be (rusty) metal). If you used a black primer you can skip this.
Rip the sponge into small, uneven pieces. With those pieces you take a little of the brown color (not too much!) and apply it unevenly over the surface of the blaster. Repeat with the ocre and orange and whatever else you want to throw into the mix. That should give you a nice rusty paintjob. If you don't want the entire blaster to be covered in a thick layer of rust you should apply some of the metal with a sponge as well - use a little more color but only put it into select places. Places that are hard to reach should stay rusty as they would be in real life (water tends to run and stay there). The edges should be more of a metal color.
There is an awesome video tutorial on this technique - unfortunately it is in German. I would still recommend giving it a shot as you can see exactly how you are supposed to apply the color: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dq66u… You don't need to see the whole thing (I guess it isn't quite as entertaining when you can't understand him^^) but zap around a little and check out the different steps.

If you have any more questions or if some of my explanation is unclear, just say so Hope this helps!

Edit: Almost forgot: When you are done with the paintjob you can apply a nice dirty washing (brown paint with lots of water) to make it seem dirty and old.

just wondering did you putty-over the whole handle or did you replace it with something? Β it looks great. I heard if one tries to sand off the faux wrapping, one will actually damage the integrity of the handle if not compromise it. Β

Hi!

The important thing is to use some putty on the inside of the grip (without letting it interfere with the spring) - otherwise you are going to create a small hole by sanding the faux-bandage down. I actually puttied a little on the outside as well to reduce the necessary sanding to a minimum but the faux-bandage has been almost completely sanded off anyways.
Regarding the integrity of the grip: You can actually remove the hammershot`s internals and still cock the blaster just fine as they have their own shell on the inside. I wouldn`t worry too much about the shaved area of the grip as it doesn`t actually hold the spring - the white shell on the inside does.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been on holidays in Ireland

Yes - I am a nerfer first so all my mods have to be functional. You have to load the darts through the Maverick's barrel, though. But if you practise that a little it hardly takes 10 seconds to reload the whole thing.
