I think the impact of this is lost on me because I think spiders are pretty cute.
All I see when I look at this is "HELLO SMALL HUMAN, YOU SEEM TO BE LOST IN THE WOODS. DO YOU NEED ASSISTANCE?"

of all of your deviations, i think i like this one the best! the sheer vulnerability portrayed by the child at that moment, how he/she is unclothed and unprotected in anyway adds a sense of dread for whoever is looking at the photograph. The fact that the spider's body spans across his/her chest shows the amount of control the spider has at the moment. And the colorless sepia tone of the picture adds a sense of depth that wouldn't quite be there if it had been in full color as well as foreshadows the fate of the child. Although this is an accurate representation of arachnophobia, or really any phobia, in the sense that it shows where the phobia can begin, etc., there also lies a hidden, deeper meaning about the amount of control fear can have over your life and how vulnerable the human psyche is to fear and emotion. woooow! that was a REALLY long and detailed response, I usually don't do that! but i think your picture was worth it! it really was amazing!

I'm so glad that this is not real (I can tell by the shadows) *Shiver* The thought alone of a big spider sitting on a baby's belly makes me shiver and want to freak out, even when the spider is harmless (as long as it is not annoyed) and the baby would not be afraid or scared - BECAUSE THAT THING TICKLES!!!

I'm glad that the shadows of the spiders leg are off (they are, even though RandomMumble may be right about the lifted legs, but there's more) because otherwise I might have believed it is real which might have make me lash out because I oppose someone getting hurt in the name of art. And the sheer imagination of a hairy thing like this that TICKLES on a baby's belly... *shiver*

I thought so, too, at first. But I think it's not. Look at the middle left leg - the shadow suggests it's raised high - it's a tiny bit too long therefore, but other than that it looks good to me. But I guess, I'm not the right person to give any logical comment. All I can say is, I really like this picture.

If you guys havnt noticed. The spider isnt really "touching" the child. If you look closley you can see it isnt. There would be dents... just saying.

Now this is one photo that could really put the scare into anyone.
I find the scene to be powerful in a way that makes "powerful" and understatement.
Hard to tell if it is a real spider or not, don't get me wrong but I just could never find it in my hear to to do something like this to a child.
