Description

Without further ado, here is my entry to the Glass contest! My character is Maria Fernanda, a hero with future sight and heightened speed abilities. She has always had this ability in her life but did not realize it until she became a mother. More than often, her feelings of dread or nervousness when it came to the safety of her son, or what was often referred to as "mother's intuition", were correct. The biggest event when her powers became apparent was when, on one fateful day, her future sight saved her son from being hit by a car on the way to his school bus stop. The other parents who were bystanders at the scene could not fathom how Maria was able to grab her son out of the way of the car- she had been too far away, and it couldn't have been humanly possible for her to make it to him in time- but she did.

Maria still did not think of this as a power- she didn't understand how it happened, but she knew it was some kind of miracle for her to be able to save him. But, she went on with life as normal. She became an elementary school teacher, and as her son, and her subsequent daughter afterward, got older and became teens, not much changed. That was until she saw a video that changed everything. It was viral- a video showing real-life superheroes with insane powers and abilities. It was then when her son, Marillo, brought up the day she had saved him. She wrote it off at first, but the more that she thought about it, and examples since, she believed that she could, perhaps, have an ability.

Then, we come to the subject of our picture. On one fateful day, she decided to put her powers to the test. It was on a day where she had taken the day off from her work at the school district for personal reasons. While she was at home, she got the impression from her future sight that her kids were in danger. Maria could not stand back and let the children that she had cared for and taught be harmed, and so she took off on her motorbike towards the school. As soon as she got there, she found that it was under lockdown because of an active shooter. She used as much speed as she could muster to reach the children inside, running them out to safety with the help of her power. At last, she got to her own class- only to find the shooter had made his way into the room. She burst inside, placing herself between them, and told him- "You will not lay a  hand on these children!"

I hope you guys like it! I've been a fan on unbreakable since I watched it as a little kid, and to see it continue to grow and develop has been amazing! I'm so glad it's been a part of my life, and I was glad to be able to contribute to it! I'd love any comments or critiques too! This character took a lot of time to create, and I'm quite proud of her, so feel free to let me know what you think of her!

Yes! It's a really good movie! It's fairly dark though, just to warn you, but it has a very different tone and view on superheroes, which I think is really interesting. And thank you so much! I'm glad you like her!

Eeee thanks so much! Yeah, it is a really good series, though the first two were my favorite (the ending to the last one wasn't the greatest). So, if you do check them out, take the newest one with a grain of salt.
