Doel, the last village near the Dutch border, between life and death almost completely abandoned.Who lives here and who is not aware of the ghost who will gives us the crepes....

Creepy, disturbing and at the same time very sad . . . the slight distortion really adds to the atmosphere!

It kind of reminds me of some of the small towns near where I grew up, except there people uprooted themselves to move to bigger places where they could get jobs. When I go home to visit my family and we drive through some of these towns, most of the homes are abandoned and in disrepair, and maybe only one or two houses are still being lived in, usually by elderly people. When they die, the town will finish dying too.

this city really fascinates me...
it looks so strange. really so ghosty...
and just as i wrote before. i really like that sharp contrast.
and i love that you have more "life" in your picture. means more action. it has an other feeling as the picture of the city i saw before.
and that sky is of course great, too.
it fits so well to the scene!
it was a great idea of yours (which means you and your friend[???i think he's your friend^^])
to take pictures of the city before it's absolutely demolished!

How strange that practically a whole village is gone, what happened?
I just love old abandoned building photos and this one has a nice tweak to it that gives it a even more surreal tone.

The unnatural color is done by taking away the saturation, i did this in Photomatix, after this process i worked in Photoshop and copied the masterlayer, putted the light in soft light, blured it a little...

't Is nie echt moeilijk, jh2 heeft me vooral geïnspireerd! Alleen gebruikt hij verschillende raws en ik maar één, ik zet die dan stopsgewijs om naar tiff (een vijftal) en doe dan verder in Photomatix...

.oh, het staat niet op google maps. .ik heb geen concrete namen, maar het doet me denken aan de belgische grens bij mijn oma, die woonde in dorplein, bij budel...

It's just around the corner here and indeed it's the only village that is in this condition and abandoned...
