Description
Mario and crew facing the ultimate darkness behind the Thousand Year Door (well, facing some off screen entity at least).
This is more or less a redraw of my old humanized Paper Mario designs from 2015 for @paper-mario-zine .
The zine will go live on February 1st and will be donating all of its proceeds to Doctors Without Borders, so be sure to check it out when it goes up! I even designed the cover for it, so be on the look out for that. If you like what you see here then just imagine what other great art the zine will have in store ;D

I don't know if it's just the position Mario is standing in, but I love how he looks so short compared to most of the other characters.
And of course, I love everything else. The humanized partners look so awesome, as well as the colors of the picture-- especially the glow around the charactersΒ as they face off against the darkness. Nice contrast.

If ONLY Nintendo and Intelligent Systems understood how much the fans loves this game and wants the series to return to it's RPG roots by remaking this game so it can easily outsell Color Splash and Sticker Star and then make another Paper Mario like the first two games....

Normally, this would go into my Nintendo Fanart favorite folder - but this is going directly to my favorites folder. I've always loved the idea of humanistic Paper Mario characters, and you certainly did an excellent job at bringing them to life. It's just those small details, such as Koops having his shell be a backpack, Bobbery having his steering wheel tied strapped over his back, and Ms. Mowz having her hair bunned up to represent her ears - those details are what definitely make this piece.Β
