it's not just skyrim........... the symbol of akatosh has existed through the whole series.  It's the main background graphic for Morrowind FFS... so so so many people keep making this mistake >.< the only difference between then and now is the removal of a diamond shape at the top tip of the wings, which if memory serves correctly, symbolized talos.

I have played Elder Scrolls since Arena, and I know that the symbol has been around for ages. However, its really only become mostly prominent with the release of Skyrim, as it was used as one of their main marketing images.

I believe it also symbolizes the ES version of the trinity, as the diamond at the top was red, which showed up mostly during Morrowind. It's gone through MANY revisions, but has primarily been associated with the Empire, and of course, Akatosh.

But in the end, its a cool image, and I wanted to make something from it.
