My internet avatar, Boucher-style
The scene is referenced from one of Boucher's portraits of Madame de Pompadour. I really love all the portraits he painted of her, and she had the most amazing dresses too ! I'm starting a series of paintings in this style so keep an eye out for them Don't crop, edit or redistribute ! Thanks <3

This artwork is really pretty. The lady is oh so very lovely, and I really like the shine you gave her hair - which is wonderfully styled by the way. Her dress looks so very nice too, with all the little roses, lacing, ribbons, and bows... I'm sure it must've taken a lot of work just to make the fabric look as it does - it's as if it were actually sewn with padding between the pieces of fabric, not to mention the wonderful textures that imply the actual feel of the material itself were one to touch it.
I also really like the more practical objects you've scattered about here, that all subtly contribute towards immersing the onlooker into her world, and making us really feel like she's a real person with unique interests and tasks to complete - not just the book in her hand, or the one on the floor, and those on her shelf, (which all artfully impress upon the admirer that she is a learned person - who takes great pleasure in reading), but also that opened letter on that elegantly crafted table, and the parchments at her feet too. There doesn't seem to be any words on the pages to the book she's holding, but perhaps it's actually a journal with some pages still left blank.
The gold-framed mirror isn't distracting to the rest of the artwork at all, and you obviously took the angles well into account to make it fit in the picture so naturally, and really make it feel as though it belonged there - it's inclusion makes your fantastic lighting job here even more remarkable! I also like the single rose you set upon the wood floor, as it would've been perfectly fine without it, but I think the addition improved the piece aesthetically - if that was even possibly with how incredible things already looked without it!
This artwork is so exquisitely detailed, well thought out, and painstakingly crafted - really effectively resulting in the overall appearance of this piece to be unmistakably lavish, beauteous, and strikingly magnificent. Outstanding portrayal! Β
