I’ve been looking at kimono patterns a lot lately, and I guess that had to transpire here at some point Pinterest is a gold mine for kimono pictures, but I also like browsing through kimono shops just to get an eyeful. The patterns can be so varied, often graceful and delicate but also sometimes really bold and colourful. Makes me want to wear them all.
We’ll be going to Japan for our honeymoon this winter and I’m definitely going to get my fix of patterns when I’m there ! I’m looking forward to shopping for scraps of kimono fabric to saw little items or to use for my scrapbooks <3 Also looking forward to the stationery shops, and also obviously to the food but that’s another matter entirely.
No use looking for any hidden meaning in this picture, there’s none I was not after meaning or significance when I started this one. This year was very stressful and I’ve lost my drive several times, so nowadays I focus on what I like to draw and that’s pretty much it. For what simplest pleasure than to draw something you find pretty ?
It started as something else in the beginning as usual - it was a girl at a matsuri, then in the streets under the lanterns. The wisteria grew and the setting disappeared but the Inari mask remained. When you’re deep in thoughts and your eyes are closed, does it not feel like you’re floating ?
