I reject dragonheart 3's depiction of a dragon egg and substitute it with this.

Selinelle In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-08 02:18:47 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. These small amber eggs from part 3 should have been specified for another type of dragon! Draco is nearly T-Rex size and one would suppose that as a baby he would have been the size of a growing Retriever or cub enough for a human to struggle to carry him!

Now I'm picturing draco as a retriever with dragon wings.

YAY! :3

YESSIR!  There are baby dragons in dragon eggs.  They aren't just objects to be used as bombs and healing potions!

That and smart enough to split there heart until they've seen and talked with that person, or at least seen them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-09 02:03:23 +0000 UTC]

That's what I meant by "using them as health potions".  'Cause unless those baby dragons know more than most babies know at that stage in existance, they totally took away that baby's rights to pick what to do with it's heart with a clear mind.  What if that baby grew up and realized it didn't want to be bound to a human like that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

debralizjr In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-09 04:22:39 +0000 UTC]

I know. Well plus what if the human started out fine then went nuclear like the evil queen. They'd have damned a baby to huge consequences before it's life started, but I forget what Draco said consequences would be for splitting heart with evil human.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-09 05:09:46 +0000 UTC]

Exactly!  Not to mention the baby'll experience every single pain the fragile human ever has in life.  Up to and including childbirth I imagine.  How is it supposed to know that that's a deal it wanted to make?  And they have the gall to preach about "individual choice"...
Well, going by the first movie, the concequences are that human lives until the dragon dies.  And the dragon and human experience each others' big pains.  And the human can feel the heartbeat when he's close to the dragon.  Apparently the concequences for the "DH3" universe is that they share EVERY pain (except groinshots?) and then feel each other's heartbeat (and hence their moods), and the dragon can be killed if the human is killed.

debralizjr In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-09 05:25:23 +0000 UTC]

I can recall Draco saying something about when a dragon shares a heart with an evil person or the dragon himself or herself that they aren't allowed to turn into a star when they die.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-09 05:34:17 +0000 UTC]

I thought that was if the human was evil in an extreme way?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

debralizjr In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-09 06:29:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I saw dragonheart. Looked it up and dragons become a star if they prove their worth. Draco gave his heart thinking it would save and change Einon. When that didn't happen, he feared the failure would cost him his soul. I'm unsure if that was just a fear Draco had or if losing their soul is a dragon's consequences.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-09 06:40:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah...  he gave his heart to Einon because he thought there was a chance that it would bring peace between humans and dragons and gain him a place "among his brothers in the sky".  So he at least thought that sharing his heart wouldn't hurt his chances at becoming a star at first.  But it turned out that Einon was insistantly evil aaaaaand Draco'd just made him immortal.  Which was a very bad thing for everybody, and that made him think that he'd lost it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

debralizjr In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-09 07:15:14 +0000 UTC]

Well with an evil father and a passive-aggressive mother, it's no wonder Einon turned into a tyrant so fast after he became king. Bowen did his best but I can imagine Einon's father was undoing all Bowen's training and hard work. Maybe if Draco had a little more interaction with Einon, Draco and Bowen would've been able to keep him on right path. On the other hand, Einon might've been that much more corrupt and hidden Draco, so he wouldn't be killed.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-09 07:55:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah...  the thing about Einon is that he was always corrupt.  Did you see that look of glee on his face when "the peasents were revolting" and would have to be "delt with"?  He had always been waiting for his father's crown so he could become a "greater" king than him.  (aka more blood and oppression and fear)  And at the point that he got the dragon's heart he had all the power 'cause he was king and all the other knights liked him and snubbed the ideals of the stupid oppressive Old Code that messed with their getting rich and having fun.  It was really up to Einon whether he went to Draco to get "goodness lessons" or not, not his mother, and not Bowen.  And he just wasn't interested.  Well... Bowen might have been able to beat some sense into him (MAYBE.  I am willing to bet that it wouldn't have worked... but I guess it was a possibility), but he was shocked into denial about it being Einon's fault for his evil behavior.
Draco saw that Einon was an evil little b when he first laid eyes on him. I think what happened was he was putting stock in his heart making Einon turn good. Turned out to be a bad gamble...
Geez.  Poor Draco.  I think he was screwed no matter what he did there.  If he gave Einon his heart then he most likely would set a tyrant loose.  If he refused the dragon race still suffered under Bowen's wrath, 'cause Bowen (and possibly everybody else) didn't understand that Einon was "not worth saving".

debralizjr In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-09 21:10:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh I'm not denying that Einon was always a little turf. Just saying that when his father died that would've been the best time to reach out to him. That was the opportune moment (sorry Jack) to make him realize where his father's policy brought him and that he needed to listen to Bowen.
Oh yeah poor Draco he really got the raw end of the stick. Utterly ticked me off when Griffin went playing the human's victim in 2nd movie. He was the one who turned traitor and led to the decision to slaughter all the dragons. He thinks he's the victim, I would like him to say that after being in Draco's shoes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to debralizjr [2015-05-10 00:50:29 +0000 UTC]

Possibly.  I mean, I personally doubt that he would have responded to a reach-out by changing into a better person, but it could have happened.  I guess we'll never really know now because Bowen jumped to blaming Draco, and Aislinn had no real power over her son to make him follow through with his promise.  (well... Maybe she could have knocked him out and dragged him to Draco...  But she probably would have had to do that all by herself and would be in serious danger of being executed for treason if she were caught)
Well... Griffin kind of was a victim... at least at first.  As far as I can see, anyway... I don't really have much backstory on him aside from what the characters have said (and time and being on the different sides might have muddled it some) but from what I can tell, dragons in general were treated pretty badly just for being dragons.  That is honestly grounds for war.  His problem is that he blamed the ENTIRE human race and started a war amongst ones that were at peace with dragons, and that monsterous action revoked his victim status.

Yeah Ant Man and Fantastic 4 are coming out but I'm unsure about them. I like Hank Pym so I don't care for how old they made him look and the age of actor. Don't get me started on casting for Fantastic 4.
I want them to hurry up with Dr. Strange and Black Panther movies.

It's hard to say who I'm interested in seeing movies of...  I was never really into the superhero genre.  Even ones like Batman and Superman and Spiderman, I only knew as much about them as I did because people in my family watched the movies and stuff.

It's not that I disliked them.  I just wasn't into them.
I've kinda wanted to know more about Hawk Girl (Woman?)  I'm guessing she's not Marvel, though...

I know you don't. You threw a number of comic book characters into our discussion about all the ways she who I won't name could suffer and die.
Yeah Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman, some of which are same person, are members of the Justice League in Dc comics.

Selinelle In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-08 05:33:58 +0000 UTC]

He could do that

I can't believe I made him drink milk from a bag my Cinderella type OC gave him(sort of how Baby Saphira tried but ripped it) in an idea! I also thought he'd accompany her pipe whistle with light humming in one part!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to Selinelle [2015-05-08 06:01:43 +0000 UTC]

I thought there was an actual legend that giving milk to dragons makes them calm?  I've heard it in several places...

I'm not very into science... or zoology or whatever.  I must have thought that anything with apendages would suck it's figners...  that it was something that made the baby's muscles develop to the point where it could eat later.  I didnt' realize it was stricktly for... mammals.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Selinelle In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-08 13:17:18 +0000 UTC]

Really? Then my guesses nailed it!

Me neither but through some experience with puppies, abandoned kittens or watching other people take care of their animals, I kind of imagine how a dragon like him could do it. He could have behaved like a kitten climbing on something or someone's leg when begging for food!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to Selinelle [2015-05-08 17:38:51 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if the milk thing has any base in science, though.

Right.  When I think of dragons, how they move and stuff, I think of puppies and kittens more than lizards.  Even though they generally look more like lizards...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Selinelle In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-08 18:17:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah if it's not part of their diet. Though he could eat anything even fruit!

Yeah even Saphira's animators were inspired by lots of puppy references And the original DH director said Draco had to have the grace of a lion!

Strecno [2015-05-07 23:28:44 +0000 UTC]

Haha ^^ nice work! But I think a dragon wouldn’t suck on his thumb; this is a characteristic which only mammals have X)

HollyRoseBriar In reply to Strecno [2015-05-08 00:37:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks :3

Bah!  Dragons can defy such stereotypes if they want.

(... You probably do make a very good point, though.  I've never thought to study reptiles for certain behavioral tics or quirks for dragons.  I really aught to...  I mean, I might still decide to give them "mammal-y" quirks, because artistic license, but it can't hurt to study reptiles.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Strecno In reply to HollyRoseBriar [2015-05-08 01:03:01 +0000 UTC]

This has nothing to do with stereotypes! There are also a lot of dragons with mammal characteristics! I also don’t like the dragon=reptile theory!! A dragon is a dragon. But a sucking reflex makes only sense if the mother suckling her young. And as for Draco that is not the case…

But yeah, it’s your artistic freedom to do whatever you want. I only said it’s not logic for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HollyRoseBriar In reply to Strecno [2015-05-08 01:49:42 +0000 UTC]

... XD Actually, I'm the one that's guilty of making the dragon conform to a stereotype!  I drew him with his thumb in his mouth 'cause "It's something cute that babies do".

I am glad that you brought it up, though.  You're making me think more about the details about quirks dragons may or may not have.  Sorry if I seemed too dismissive... It actually does make sense that he wouldnt' practice sucking if he won't.... suckle... when he hatches.  I just never thought about it before.

How about we explain the image like this:  He's not actually sucking his thumb.  He's sticking his thumb in his mouth stricktly to feel the sensation of fingering his mouth becuase there's nothing much else to do in such a cramped space.
