First of all: hilarious picture.
Second of all: I hate to be argumentative, but I have to respectfully disagree. You aren't the only person to have this complaint, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to try and defend the choice made, but...meh, what the heck.
To me, the Cheshire Cat - in most incarnations - is a true neutral zone, as you said. A third of the time he's helpful, the other third he's causing trouble, and in the last third he's just sitting back, and watching the madness unfold. Because of this, he doesn't take sides; therefore, since his "usual self" is not really a friend, nor a foe (despite what Alice thought, which is what I got from the scene), he's willing and ready to satisfy his own needs - specifically, getting something to eat - through her. He's a cat; cats are not altruistic or loyal creatures, generally. Nor are they kind.
Long story short: nearly eating Alice, to me, was not terribly out of character at all, and I quite enjoyed this incarnation of the cat...for the two minutes he was onscreen.
I also hopes he returns; while, again, I don't think he was ever REALLY friends with Alice, it would be interesting to see him in the flashback scenes...and, if he ever WAS on "friendly" terms, it would be interesting to see the extent and details of that friendship. This version of the character, in my opinion, is far too good to keep out of the show...but, then, that's just my humble opinion, and Keith David's Cheshire is not mine to control.
...Sigh...
Again, great picture!
Sincerely yours,
J.

Thanks!
You make some good points there. It probably isn't totally out of character for the Cheshire cat to be this way... I guess it's just out of the character that I see him as and want him to be like...

I don't own any cats, but I do like them a lot. When they're not trying to kill me or anything...

AH HOLLY YOU POST SO MUCH STUFF I CAN'T KEEP UP! Yeah, I mean, what was wrong with the normal Cheshire Cat? I love the normal Cheshire Cat! OUaTiW is disappointing. Thanks for making it funny!

I'm sorry!!!! I'm making up for all the long stretches when I harly posted anything at all!
Well... if the word "normal" can be used to describe the Cheshire Cat...
OUaTiW started out kind of meh... but it is becoming more interesting. The last episode was the best so far. (ohmygoshWILL!!D8)

*hugs you back*
I think I remember hearing something about Alice and the Knave filming in Steveston A.K.A Storybrooke? I'd be okay with that happening, I always kinda wanted Jasmine to join Emma, Snow, Ruby, Ashly and Belle's epic princess kick-butt squad, and since Jafar's in OUaTiW, I can't see that happening unless they combine the two series.

Oooooooo! Maybe Knave will give the key back to Granny. XD
It would seem really really weird to me if they didn't at least cameo in OUaT somehow. It seems like OUaT is the main story thing that everybody comes to eventually and OUaTiW is them putting stories that don't really fit into the flow of OUaT

That would rock!
I really hope they do. I'm also kinda hoping Hart Archer and Goldi Locksly from the Good Morning Storybrooke segment make a cameo sometime.
Have you seen Good Morning Storybrooke? If not, go to youtube and look it up! I had no idea the writers were that goofy! (The commercial for Mr. Gold's shop is the BEST.)

That would be cool! I have seen Good Morning Storybrooke! Have you seen the whole thing? I think all the versions of it that I've seen on youtube are shortened.
Oh totally yeeeees! XD XD XD I can't tell if he's trying to attract customers or drive them off. I wonder if that thing that happened between Nova and Leroy was canon?
I kind of want to watch it again now!

I'm not sure if I've seen the whole thing or not.... you never know with youtube versions.
I wouldn't really put either past him. It's even better if you play it with the captions. Youtube captions are awful anyway, but it trying to figure out his accent is pretty much the funniest thing ever
I know! I was so sad to see the fairydust ship sunk! I hope they get back together!

It's amazing how many of life's problems can be resolved by merely squirting them. Doesn't work with meter maids.
